full.ddaythesixthofjune-22x28-8667

Original 20th Century-Fox Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the Henry Koster war drama, D-DAY THE SIXTH OF JUNE (1956) starring Robert Taylor, Richard Todd, Dana Wynter, and Edmond O’Brien. This is a rather conventional telling, from the perspective of the decade immediately after World War II, of the invasion of Normandy that freed western Europe from the grip of the Nazis. A poignant tale of love and loss is woven into the fabric of the military story, and director Koster handles the material conscientiously. Wynter is beautiful. This half sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition. There is a small border tear on the left side about midway. Good color.

SAINT JOAN (1957) 18350

full.Saint Joan LB NM 18350

Original United Artists Six Sheet Poster (81×81) for the Otto Preminger epic biography, SAINT JOAN (1957)—starring Richard Widmark, Richard Todd, Anton Walbrook, and Jean Seberg. Adapted for screen by Graham Greene based on the play by George Bernard Shaw, this film is the story of Saint Joan of Arc, a peasant girl born in eastern France, who led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years’ War (1335-1453) and was indirectly responsible for the coronation of Charles VII. Joan (Seberg in her film debut) is presented as a divinely inspired innocent while the all-male ensemble that surround her are all scheming, Machiavellian opportunists who treat religion as a tool to be used and manipulated for their own ends. Joan is portrayed as both saint and madwoman, while Widmark portrays the future king of France in a frenzied and comic caricature. With stunning art by legendary Saul Bass, this original six sheet poster is linen-backed and in near mint condition.
