THE MAN FROM PLANET X (1951) 21100

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original United Artists insert poster (14×36) for the Edgar G. Ulmer sci-fi classic, THE MAN FROM PLANET X (1951) starring Robert Clarke, Margaret Field, and Raymond Bond. Shot in six days on sets left over from JOAN OF ARC (1948), Clarke is a reporter in the foggy moor of a remote Scottish island sent to cover the story of the approach to earth of a previously unknown planet when he unexpectedly confronts a friendly alien from X. The alien’s plea for aid for his freezing planet is met with total obliteration by the British army bazookas. One of the first alien invasion films, it boasts an eerie atmosphere, moody cinematography, fun musical score, and an interesting story. While most of the one sheets – already rare – for this title show heavy use, this one is linen-backed and in very fine plus condition. With its endearing primitive art, the campaign for this film created some of the most charming science fiction movie posters of the 1950s. The insert was originally folded, but has been kept flat for thirty years or more. Fine Plus to Very Fine.

Original Crown International Pictures Insert Poster (14×36) for the Ralph Cushman drama, SECRET FILE HOLLYWOOOD (1961)– starring Robert Clarke, Maralou Gray, and Francine York. Another classic z-movie! The production values are so bad on this film that one can see the boom microphone in several shots. Yet the film has asserted itself as a campy movie about a private eye digging up dirt on Hollywood celebrities. The movie is not without it’s own brand of entertainment value, but the poster is rather wonderful. This insert poster is in very fine, but not near mint condition. Some minor distresses.
