Original Republic Pictures Title Lobby Card (11×14) for the Joseph Kane B-western, THE CARSON CITY KID (1940) starring Roy Rogers, George “Gabby” Hayes, Bob Steele, and Pauline Moore. Rogers plays the Carson City Kid, who is seeking vengeance on the man who killed his brother. That man turns out to be the saloon owner, a generic part in many westerns and only made memorable by the charisma of the specific actor playing the role. Roy only sings one song in this film, a duet with the heroine (Moore). Roy had not yet met Dale Evans, and the studio matched him with a number of different leading ladies. This original title lobby card is fine plus condition, with only a small chip missing from the upper right corner.

Roy helps local ranchers raise money to build a reservoir, but then the money is lost to a gambler through a crooked stock deal. Roy sings some songs and eventually recovers all the stolen loot. And leaves behind this gorgeous poster, which far outstrips the film, I’m sure. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in near mint condition.
