1946 re-release 20th Century-Fox Insert Poster (14×36) for the John Ford family drama, HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY (1941) starring Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O’Hara, Anna Lee, Donald Crisp, Sara Allgood, and Roddy McDowall. Based on the novel by Richard Llewellyn, this is the story of a turn-of-the-century Welsh mining village that is changing from a pristine paradise into a despoiled coal region. The center of the film is the Morgan family headed by Crisp and Allgood. Crisp plays the conservative father who does not agree with his sons on the need for a union. All of this is seen through the eyes of young Hugh Morgan (McDowall in his first major role). The film received 10 Academy Award nominations and won five Oscars–including Best Picture, Best Director to Ford, and Best Supporting Actor to Crisp. This original insert poster is in very good condition, with some distresses, pinholes, and fold separations.
