Original Belgian Poster (14×22) for the Cyril Frankel comedy, ON THE FIDDLE (1961) starring Alfred Lynch, Sean Connery, Cecil Parker, and Stanley Holloway. Released in the U.S. under the title OPERATION SNAFU, this British military comedy could not have been done during the actual period of World War II in Great Britain, a film in which the central character (Lynch) is a conman slacker who teams up with a dim gypsy (Connery) to skillfully avoid fighting and advance their economic endeavors. This original Belgian poster is in very fine condition.

DR. NO (1962) 8324 SOLD

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Terence Young spy thriller, DR. NO (1962) starring Sean Connery, Ursula Andress, and Joseph Wiseman. This was the first James Bond feature film, and it profited from the creator Ian Fleming being greatly involved in the production. There is no overload of explosions or special effects. The plot can be told clearly, taken seriously, and enjoyed from start to finish. DR. NO set the standards, albeit on a limited budget, for the entire series. Connery’s brilliant use of charm, coolness, and cruelty truly defined the Bond character, and his portrayal of the ultimate spy has never been equaled. The film was a box office smash success and vindicated the studio’s decision to sign the unknown Connery. This original one sheet poster is folded and in near mint condition.

Original United Artists Twenty Four Sheet Poster (9 ft x 20 ft) for the Terence Young adventure thriller, THUNDERBALL (1965)– starring Sean Connery, Claudine Auger, and Adolfo Celi. Perhaps the most outrageous James Bond poster around as well as the largest. THUNDERBALL (1965) was the first really widescreen Bond movie, and the film demonstrably took the effects and sweep of the films to center stage. From this point forward James Bond movies would be above all LARGE. I regard it as the first of the Big Bond movies. Since so much of it happens underwater, how better to display the big guy other than in his S.C.U.B.A gear? Move over, Esther Williams, the name is Bond – James Bond. Here is a poster on the such a scale that even Emilio Largo would be envious. The twenty four sheet is printed on multiple panels which must be joined for display. This example was never used and exists in remarkable shape.

full.diamondsareforever-30x40-20443

Original United Artists 30×40 Poster for the Guy Hamilton spy thriller, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971) starring Sean Connery, Jill St. John, Charles Gray, Jimmy Dean, and Lana Wood. Having quit the James Bond role “forever” in 1967, Connery was offered a huge amount of money to reprise his famous role one more time. He approached the role with new sense of amused and relaxed charm. Though using all the old tried and true Bond staples including Shirley Bassey singing the title song—this Bond movie has the most overly camp humor, the most nudity, and the rudest jokes of all of the 007 films up to this time. This original 30×40 poster is in fine plus condition– with some edge wear, border distresses and tears.

It has the charm and wit of the first film, plus exotic locales, beautiful women, and sinister villains. Original Warner Bros. Insert Poster (14×36) for the Peter Hyams sci-fi thriller, OUTLAND (1981) starring Sean Connery, Peter Boyle, and Frances Sternhagen. After leaving the James Bond franchise in 1971, it was this film that started Connery on a comeback trail that culminated in his Best Supporting Actor Oscar for THE UNTOUCHABLES (1987) six years later. In this film Connery plays the role of Police Marshal William O’Niel, who is transferred to a mining outpost located on Io, one of Jupiter’s moons. He is assigned to investigate the violent deaths of miners and discovers they all died of drug overdoses. As he sets out to find the drug dealers, he finds that he is the target of hired assassins. This film had one of the best production designs of any sci-fi film to date, presenting the outpost mining community not as some sci-fi “utopia” but rather as a dirty, grimy, nasty, and dangerous hellhole. This original insert poster is unfolded and is in very fine condition. This insert poster was printed for limited 70mm engagements of OUTLAND in 1981. This is an authentic insert poster. Insert posters for certain films have been widely reproduced. MovieArt will sell NO reproductions.
