full.thatkindofwoman-wc-20620

Original Paramount Pictures Window Card (14×22) for the Sidney Lumet romantic comedy, THAT KIND OF WOMAN (1959)—starring Sophia Loren, Tab Hunter, Jack Warden, and Barbara Nichols. Loren and Nichols play two girlfriends traveling on a train during World War II, who meet and get involved with two Marines (Hunter and Warden). This film was one of Loren’s early English language films, and she had by this time had developed an easy command of the language (plus her innate natural beauty). While we seldom think of Hunter as a great acting talent, after seven years in the business and with Lumet’s excellent direction, he delivers a memorable performance. There is a real on-screen chemistry between the two, which is at the very core of the story. This original window card is in very fine condition. It was used at the Pat Theater in the Four Corners area in Lafayette, Louisiana. As with most theater used cards, it has the theater and playdate printed on it.

full.matingmodernstyle-1sh-10969

Apparently also released in the U.S.A. as MATING, MODERN STYLE, probably mid sixties. Most likely capitalizing on the success of MARRIAGE, ITALIAN STYLE, YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW as well as the Fellini films starring Mastroianni, this poster is for a little known re-release of LA FORTUNA DI ESSERE DONNA. The film is described as a light entertainment about a photographer (Mastroianni) who takes a photo of a girl (Loren) that ends up on a magazine cover without her permission. The usual Italian nonsense ensues. Directed by Alessandro Blasetti. The garish poster paints an altogether more strumpet like image of the bombshell Loren. Rare. Very fine condition.
