This is an original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Herbert Glazer comedy short, MIGHTY LAK A GOAT (1942) starring Robert Blake, John Dilson, Ava Gardner, and Spanky McFarland. Yes, that’s right – Ava Gardner. Gardner makes a cameo appearance in this short as the cashier who sells The Gang tickets to a movie! This is one of the later shorts in the famous “Our Gang/Little Rascals” series. Created by Hal Roach in 1922, the series showcases kids just being themselves. The series was officially called both “Our Gang” and “Hal Roach’s Rascals” until 1932, when “Our Gang” became the sole title of the series. In 1938 Roach sold the series to MGM, who continued to produce comedy shorts in the series for another five years. In the mid-50s, the original Roach shorts were syndicated for television under the title “The Little Rascals.” MIGHTY LAK A GOAT is one of the best of all of the “Our Gang” shorts, and Spanky only appeared in one more film in the series.
