TREASURE ISLAND (1950) 14125

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original U.S. Insert card for the Walt Disney film TREASURE ISLAND (1950) starring Robert Newton and Bobby Driscoll. The Robert Louis Stevenson classic tale of pirates on the high seas comes alive in this fondly remembered Disney version, filmed in England in 1950. Robert Newton as Long John Silver is certainly one of the quintessential pirate roles. And Bobby Driscoll was the in-house Disney kid seen in SONG OF THE SOUTH. This insert is in lovely condition. Folded, but very fine plus. Arrrggghh!

This original insert poster is folded and in very fine condition.

FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON (1958) 8971

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original U.S. one sheet poster for the film adaptation of Jules Verne’s FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON (1958). As the space shuttle is retired and private contractors begin eyeing the journey to the moon, we can look back with fondness to a time in which such an undertaking was science-FICTION. Certainly not a sci-fi movie classic, FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON sees Joseph Cotten and George Sanders as two rival and equally cranky scientists who, at the close of the U.S. Civil War, are anxious to get to the moon. Debra Paget and Don Dubbins are a pair of star-crossed lovers. What else do you need? Directed by Byron Haskin. Very fine to near mint condition. Folded.

Original Spanish Poster (28×39) for the Byron Haskin sci-fi classic, THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953) starring Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, and Les Tremayne. One of the best sci-fi movies of the 1950s, this is the film adaptation of the famous H. G. Wells novel, already revisited by the radio broadcast of Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre on Halloween evening, 1938. That program, which began with a series of news bulletins without commercial interruption, caused near panic among listeners who were convinced that an actual Martian invasion was in progress. This popular film version of the story was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Special Effects for the near perfect swan-like flying machines attacking earth. A superb poster for this title. This original Spanish poster is paper-backed with some touch-up to the fold lines and is in very fine condition. There is some damage to the paper backing in the border area as shown on the image. MovieArt will be happy to have this poster rebacked or the paper border repaired.
