Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Christy Cabanne crime mystery, THE WESTLAND CASE (1937)—starring Preston Foster, Frank Jenks, Carol Hughes, and Theodore von Eltz. This film chronicles a wisecracking, hard drinking, and womanizing private detective (Foster) who is hired to investigate a murder conviction of a wealthy businessman (Eltz) found guilty of murdering his wife and only six days away from execution. This was the first film produced as part of a new deal with pulp mystery publisher, Crime Club Stories, which allowed Universal to produce four films from its novels per year. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very good condition, with only some etched paper loss along the fold lines. The poster would clean up and present beautifully if linen-backed. A nice example of this type of mystery B-picture.
