Original Artistic License One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Chris Hegedus and D.A. Pennebaker theater documentary, MOON OVER BROADWAY (1997) starring Phillip Bosco and Carol Burnett. This fascinating documentary is the story of one play’s run on Broadway—from the fist read-through to the last performance. Most interesting is the writer’s and director’s “problem” with Burnett’s “overacting” and her tendency to paraphrase her lines. The irony of this “problem” is that Burnett got great reviews while the same critics slammed the play in general. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in near mint condition.

Signed original Pennebaker Films One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the masterful cinema verite music documentary by D. A. Pennebaker, DON’T LOOK BACK (1967)—documenting Bob Dylan’s first performing tour of The United Kingdom. In 1965, at age 23, Dylan spends three weeks touring England where he performs, hangs out, and meets the press, various characters and other musicians. The film documents a period in Dylan’s career just before he morphs from a “folk” singer into a rocker. Dylan brings an entourage with him, including singer Joan Baez and musician-buddy Bobby Neuwirth. The entourage encounter British singer Donovan (Leitch), rocker Alan Price and folk legend Derroll Adams among others. Fascinating glimpses of Dylan’s manager Albert Grossman and a mysterious appearance by poet Allen Ginsberg in the movie’s “film within a film” opening add to the eternal lure of this fascinating film. Simply put, one of the most famous documentary films ever made. An artifact from the period when young singers and performers were not overexposed, the film was influential in creating the young Dylan’s public persona. The film was not released until 1967. By that time, two major rock masterpieces, BLONDE ON BLONDE and HIGHWAY 61 REVISITED had been released. The Dylan performances seen in this film by then were slightly antique. But generations can be happy that Pennebaker and his specially modified 16mm Auricon camera were on hand to capture impressions of the late acoustic Bob Dylan. This film, perhaps more than any other, sowed the seeds of verite documentary filmmaking in the U.S. This original one sheet poster is rolled – never folded – and signed by master documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker. The poster, which dates from the original release is not the normal Donald Velde-distributed one sheet but rather was among a special printing of the poster for the very first New York City showings. A stellar Dylan collectible with a famous high contrast image lifted directly from one of the films’ frames is in near mint condition.
