Although many critics have complained that his film is nothing more than a shallow adventure story, others have praise for the locations, cinematography, sets, and costumes. It does seem that Levin forgot that the film is about Mongolians, since the only characters of Asian descent in the film are the extras. Some people found Dusan Radic’s score to be little more than ‘pseudo-epic orchestrations with grandiose flourishes,” while others found the score “fantastic” and achieving “Rosza-like standards.” This set of original British front of house cards are in fine plus condition.

Original Columbia Pictures Set of Eight Lobby Cards (11×14) for the Henry Levin and George Sherman fantasy adventure, THE BANDIT OF SHERWOOD FOREST (1946) starring Anita Louise, Jill Esmond, Edgar Buchanan, Cornel Wilde, and Henry Daniell. This swashbuckler on a budget tells the story of Robert of Nottingham (Wilde), the son of Robin Hood, who goes to the aid of the Queen Mother (Esmond) and the beautiful Lady Catherine (Louise) who are fleeing the cruel William of Pembroke (Daniell), who has imprisoned the king. Though lacking Errol Flynn’s screen charisma, Wilde has superb skills as an archer, an equestrian, and a swordsman. This original and complete lobby card varies from fine plus to near mint.

Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Henry Levin comedy, MISTER SCOUTMASTER (1953) starring Clifton Webb, Edmund Gwenn, George Winslow, and Frances Dee. The film tells the story of a snobby TV star (Webb), who becomes a Boy Scout leader in an effort to get in touch with the younger generation. With bright colors, this original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition, with only some minor paper loss at the fold intersection.

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Henry Levin spy comedy THE AMBUSHERS (1967) starring Dean Martin, Senta Berger, Janice Rule, and Dawn Addams. This was the third in a series of boozy semi-musical spy satires based on the novel by Donald Hamilton and featuring Dean Martin as Matt Helm, a super-sleuth for a powerful US Government Agency intent on saving the world from crime and corruption. Together with a bevy of beautiful woman — his “slaygirls” — Matt Helm travels to Mexico in this outlandish caper. The poster merits very good condition — some tape stains. With linen-backing, these stains can be removed assuring for fine condition.

Original 20th Century-Fox British Double Crown Poster (20×30) for the Harry Levin musical comedy, APRIL LOVE (1957) starring Pat Boone, Shirley Jones, Dolores Michaels, and Arthur O’Connell. After being put on probation for trying to steal a car, young Nick (Boone) must live and work on the Kentucky farm of his aunt and uncle. There he meets and falls in love with neighbor Liz (Jones). Certainly one of the most light-hearted films ever made, there are no mean or conniving characters of any sort. The title song “April Love” was nominated for Best Original Song. This original British double crown poster is folded and in very fine condition.
