Original Universal 1953 Realart Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the James Whale horror classic, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935) starring Boris Karloff, Elsa Lanchester, and Ernest Thesiger. Many critics consider this film to be the best horror movie of all time, but certainly it is one of the few sequels that is distinctly better than its predecessor, primarily because of its superior wit and satire. It should perhaps be described as a horror comedy. The special effects are better than the original, and the memorable sequence in which the Bride is brought to life is simply the most famous scene in horror cinema history. Indeed, Lanchester who was only 5’4″ tall used stilts to make her 7′ tall. The music by Franz Waxman is a classic in emotion and excitement. This James Whale masterpiece is regarded as the high point of the successful and popular Universal horror series. The 1953 Realart Reissued poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition. Realart was a company formed in the late 1940s to re-release certain Universal titles. These posters are different from their Universal Picture counterparts — and occasionally better. There is some minor touch-up to fold lines. There is a stamp on the reverse side that is slightly visible from the front. Realistically speaking, the Realart poster on this title presents an opportunity to own an authentic BRIDE poster, albeit a re-release, at a price which is dramatically less than any originally issued Universal poster. The colors are vivid, and there is no missing paper.
