Original Polish Poster (23×33) for the Joshua Logan romance, BUS STOP (1969) starring Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray, Arthur O’Connell, Betty Field, Eileen Heckart and Hope Lange. This poignant comedy, based on a popular Broadway play by William Inge, follows a lonely cowboy’s pursuit of the lovely Cherie (Monroe), a saloon singer he encounters while attending the Phoenix, AZ rodeo. Poster design features magnificent Marilyn Monroe, done in multiple images in the silkscreen style of an Andy Warhol portrait. With artwork by Rapnicki, this original Polish poster is in very fine condition.

Original Warner Brothers Insert Poster (14×36) for Joshua Logan’s romantic drama SAYONARA (1957) starring Marlon Brando, Patricia Owens, Red Buttons, Miyoshi Umeki, Ricardo Montalban, Miiko Taka, Martha Scott and James Garner. This adaptation of James Michener’s novel of service men in post-WWII Japan was a tremendous hit both critically and commercially winning Academy Awards for Supporting Actors Red Buttons and Miyoshi Umeki. In many ways, this bittersweet tale of love between American military men and Japanese women served as a cathartic sort of healing process after the horrors of the war in the Pacific. The poster is in good condition only, folded. Note: playdate has been spray painted on background area. The poster has been priced accordingly. No returns will be accepted on this poster.
Original 20th Century-Fox Scene Lobby Card for the Joshua Logan romantic comedy, BUS STOP (1956) starring Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray, and Arthur O’Connell. BUS STOP was written by William Inge. Inge had won the Pulitzer Prize for playwriting for PICNIC in 1953. Immediately after PICNIC came the play BUS STOP. This is the story of innocent rodeo cowboy Bo (Murray) who falls in love with a caf√© singer Cherie (Monroe) in Phoenix. She tries to run away to Los Angeles, but Murray finds her and forces her to get on the bus back to his Montana ranch. Monroe creates one of her most memorable and deeply touching characters in “chanteuse” Cherie. In his book on Marilyn, the writer Norman Mailer asserts that the actress never looked more ravishing than she did in BUS STOP. The character of Bo was Murray’s first and best-remembered screen role and netted him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. William Inge later won an Academy Award for his screenplay SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS. This original scene lobby card is in fine condition, with only minor surface wear and a minor hole in the middle of the upper border.

Original 20th Century Fox Six Sheet poster for the Joshua Logan romantic comedy, BUS STOP (1956) starring Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray, and Arthur O’Connell. BUS STOP was written by William Inge. William Inge later won an Academy Award for his screenplay SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS. This original linen backed six sheet is in very fine condition. The six sheet is, in our opinion, the best U.S. poster on this title.

This is an original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the musical western, PAINT YOUR WAGON (1969) starring Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, Jean Seberg, and Harve Presnell. Paramount spared no expense in taking Lerner and Loewe’s successful stage show and beefing it up with new music and arrangements by Nelson Riddle and a new adapted screenplay by Paddy Chayefsky. Though it is hard to imagine Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood singing, they actually do a credible job. Nelson Riddle’s original score was nominated for an Academy Award. But besides the great music, the performances are very good, especially Marvin and Eastwood. There is a snipe on the lower part of the poster which is semi-attached and probably should be removed. This original one sheet poster is therefore in very good condition. Otherwise fine.

This is a scarce 40×60 – large poster – for the 1973 re-release of CAMELOT, starring Vanessa Redgrave, Richard Harris, David Hemmings and Franco Nero. The film featured the incredible music and lyrics of Frederick Loewe and Alan J. Lerner. The film was directed by Joshua Logan. This 40×60 offers the Bob Peak art that was used only for roadshow posters in the original campaign of 1967. This was the art that was also used for the soundtrack record cover. Original release posters for CAMELOT with this art are very scarce, and this re-release poster is almost identical to the original except for the tag line at the top of the poster. This poster is rolled – never folded – and has some modest signs of wear as it was a theater-used poster. MovieArt will sell NO reproductions. Lovely ethereal image of Redgrave.
