THOSE DARING YOUNG MEN IN THEIR JAUNTY JALOPIES (1969) [MONTE CARLO OR BUST] 5560

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Polish Poster (22×32) for the Ken Annakin comedy, THOSE DARING YOUNG MEN IN THEIR JAUNTY JALOPIES/aka MONTE CARLO OR BUST (1969) starring Bourvil, Tony Curtis, Peter Cook, Gert Frobe, Susan Hampshire, Dudley Moore, Eric Sykes and Terry-Thomas. Director Annakin previously helmed the wildly popular THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES and attempted to recapture some of that film’s comedy, romance and adventure in this European road race comedy. The poster design is of a tweedy Brit driving a vintage car of the early 20th century. While directly representative of the film, the art has a modern, satirical take on the subject. Art on this poster is by Eryk Lipinsky. Condition is Very Fine.

Original Walt Disney Productions Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the family adventure, SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON (1960) starring John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, James MacArthur, Janet Munro, and Tommy Kirk. This is certainly one of the best family adventure films of all time about a settler family who are shipwrecked on a desert island. Disney bought up the rights to the 1940 RKO version of the film and then confiscated all of the prints so no comparisons could be made with the new Disney version. The film grossed over $40 million, making it one of the most successful family films ever made. This original half sheet poster is rolled and in fine plus condition. It has some micro-tears in the bottom border and spots in the upper left hand corner.

THE CALL OF THE WILD (1972) 1935

full.callofthewild C1s 1935

Original International Releasing One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Ken Annakin epic adventure, THE CALL OF THE WILD (1972) starring Charlton Heston, Michele Mercier, and Buck (the dog). Based on the popular novel by Jack London, this is the emotional story, set in the 19th century, of a German Shepherd (Buck) who is abducted from California and taken to the Alaskan wilderness. There he meets his new owner (Heston) with whom the dog becomes very close. Besides Annakin’s masterful realization of London’s vision, the haunting score by Carlo Rustichelli greatly enhances the emotional punch of the film. This one sheet poster was originally folded and in very fine condition.
