Original RKO Australian Daybill Poster (15×40) for the Lowell Sherman romantic comedy, BACHELOR APARTMENT (1931)—starring Sherman, Irene Dunne, Mae Murray, and Ivan Lebedeff. Director Sherman stars in a witty and almost farcical tale of a business executive who both pursues and avoids an army of attractive young women until he meets Miss Right (Dunne). There is a lifelike quality to the dialogue that introduces you to a world of young women struggling in New York in the early Depression years. This poster for a pre-code early sound film does stay more in the area of the suggestive rather than the out and out naughty. Made before Irene Dunne was a certifiable top billing! This Australian daybill, now almost eighty years old, has some minor distresses but still looks wonderful. It is in very fine condition with a few minor issues.

Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Lowell Sherman sophisticated comedy, THE GREEKS HAD A WORD FOR THEM (1932) starring Joan Blondell, Madge Evans, and Ina Claire. Based on a play by Zoe Akins, this fun precode romp is about the amorous adventures of three money hungry women (The Three Graces?) who simply want permanent sugar daddies to keep them in the lap of luxury. The film was remade in color (and as the first film photographed in CinemaScope) in 1953 as HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE. This original stone lithograph one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition. A beautiful example of the UA approach to stone lithography. We have known of no other original one sheets on this title, although several one sheets have surfaced of the re-release of the movie, which is called THREE BROADWAY GIRLS.

Original Paramount Pictures Six Sheet Poster (81×81) for the Lowell Sherman romantic comedy, SHE DONE HIM WRONG (1933) starring Mae West, Owen Moore, and Cary Grant. Mae West was already a veteran of burlesque, vaudeville, and Broadway by the time she made her first movie in 1933 at age 39. This is Mae West’s second film and first starring role in an adaptation of her smash Broadway hit play, “Diamond Lil,” which played to packed houses for years. Indeed, West would go on to write 9 of the 14 screenplays in which she was the star, and by 1935 she was the most highly paid woman in America. This film coupled with her other hit from 1933– I’M NO ANGEL– saved Paramount from bankruptcy. The film was so wildly popular that it made Cary Grant into an instant star. West is the queen of sexual innuendo and suggestive dialogue in this precode comedy; indeed, this film is cited as one of the reasons for instigating the code. Seven countries banned the film as lurid, and the film contains her most famous retort, “Come up sometime and see me.” This original stone lithograph six sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine plus condition. Please note that the male image on the poster is Owen Moore, not Cary Grant. A one-sheet for this film sold at Heritage Auctions in Dallas for $19,120.00. This poster, while requiring much more space, is a far-more voluptuous portrait of MIss West.
