Gere’s performance is certainly one of his most memorable for creating a character who is intense and sleazy on the one hand, but vulnerable and naïve on the other. Giorgio Moroder’s upbeat score received an Oscar nomination, as did his original song “Call Me” performed by the legendary Deborah Harry and Blondie. The cinematography, production design, and lighting are all stunning. The sets are elaborate and exquisitely constructed, and the score by Giorgio Moroder and original song by David Bowie are memorable and garnered two Golden Globe nominations.
