But rumors begin to surface that Robertson is in fact a deranged maniac. Things become even more complicated when a woman (Miles) claiming to be Robertson’s first wife shows up. The film chronicles the lives of two aging screen actresses who live as virtual recluses in an old Hollywood mansion. Jane (Davis), a popular child star, “cares” for her crippled sister Blanche (Crawford), whose career in later years eclipsed that of Jane. The film was a riveting psychological study, cast with astonishing actors, and magnificently directed and photographed. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards—including Best Actress for Davis and Best Supporting Actor for Buono. Over the years, because of the real life rivalry between the two superstars and the grand guignol execution of the story, BABY JANE has become a camp classic if not a revered horror film. Folded. Original Polish Poster (27×38) for the Robert Aldrich western adventure, VERA CRUZ (1954) starring Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster, Denise Darcel, and Cesar Romero. The film takes place during the Mexican Rebellion of 1866, when a unsavory band of American mercenaries are hired by the forces of Emperor Maximilian to escort a countess to Vera Cruz. The film was very influential on the Italian filmmakers who would create the great “spaghetti” westerns. With artwork by Waldemar Swierzy, this original Polish poster is in very fine condition.

Original Paramount Pictures Presskit (9 x 11.5) for the Robert Aldrich sports comedy THE LONGEST YARD (1974) staring Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, and Ed Lauter. Reynolds delivers perhaps his best performance as the ex-NFL quarterback who gets sent to prison and there organizes a football team made up of the inmates to play against a team of the guards. The “big game” turns out to be one of the most hilarious sporting events ever seen on film. The film was remade in 2005 with Reynolds now playing the part of the coach. This original Presskit has no press releases or production notes but does have 24 original studio B&W stills with their descriptors in very fine condition.

Original 20th Century Fox Insert Poster (14×36) for the Robert Aldrich Biblical drama, SODOM AND GOMORRAH (1962)– starring Stewart Granger, Pier Angeli, Stanley Baker, and Rossana Podesta. With no nudity and no harsh language, this film still explores sex, torture, and betrayal in Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah. Aldrich elicits fine performances from the entire cast. Aldrich spectacularly stages the excellent battle scenes with thousands of real extras. And the film boasts a superb score by Miklos Rozsa. This original insert poster is in near mint condition.
