Original British Set of 8 Front of House Cards (8×10) for the Roman Polanski film, ROSEMARY’S BABY (1968) starring Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, Ralph Bellamy, and Sidney Blackmer. The movie was produced by gimmick-meister William Castle, but there was no gimmick here other than the improbably unlikely one that His Honor, Satan, the Devil, the Evil One, the guy on the deviled ham can, had fathered a child with Rosemary Woodhouse in a New York apartment building. If you can believe that, you can believe anything, but that didn’t stop millions of people from seeing this very popular horror movie based on Ira Levin’s novel. John Cassavetes is the husband and a great supporting cast form the coven. What could have been a B-film was dressed up with the stylish direction of Roman Polanski. And a great advertising tag line: Pray for Rosemary’s Baby. It all seems rather tame today, but it was scary back then. These front of house cards serve a similar purpose to lobby cards in the U.S.A. They are scarcer however. This set is used certainly, but the cards have no missing paper, some very minor tears on some cards, and minor rumpling. Unusual and scarce. Fine to Fine Plus.

Original Italian locandina (13×27) for the Roman Polanski masterpiece REPULSION (1965) starring Catherine Deneuve, Ian Hendry, John Fraser, Helen Fraser and James Villiers. One of the best thrillers ever made, REPULSION takes you inside the mind of a sexually disturbed woman (Deneuve) whose mental state leads to… well, no spoilers here, but let us say that this is an engrossing well-made film which has been compared favorably to the best of Hitchcock. Much of the film’s success owes to Catherine Deneuve’s near silent acting. This small
italian poster has brilliant palette-knife art, and is one of the better posters on this movie that we have seen. Very fine, folded.

This sumptuous European production based on the famous novel by Thomas Hardy chronicles a poor girl who is used and abused in her search for love, affection, and devotion. The acting performances of Kinski and Firth are both exceptional and memorable. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Score, and Best Director for Polanski. The truly outstanding production values of the film netted it the Oscars for Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and Best Art Direction. This original Polish poster is in very fine condition.
