THAT KIND OF WOMAN (1959) 20620

full.thatkindofwoman-wc-20620

Original Paramount Pictures Window Card (14×22) for the Sidney Lumet romantic comedy, THAT KIND OF WOMAN (1959)—starring Sophia Loren, Tab Hunter, Jack Warden, and Barbara Nichols. Loren and Nichols play two girlfriends traveling on a train during World War II, who meet and get involved with two Marines (Hunter and Warden). This film was one of Loren’s early English language films, and she had by this time had developed an easy command of the language (plus her innate natural beauty). While we seldom think of Hunter as a great acting talent, after seven years in the business and with Lumet’s excellent direction, he delivers a memorable performance. There is a real on-screen chemistry between the two, which is at the very core of the story. This original window card is in very fine condition. It was used at the Pat Theater in the Four Corners area in Lafayette, Louisiana. As with most theater used cards, it has the theater and playdate printed on it.

DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975) 9379

full.dogdayafternoon-1sh

Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Sidney Lumet crime drama black comedy, DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975) starring Al Pacino, John Cazale, Charles Durning, and Chris Sarandon. The film is based on a Life magazine account of an actual robbery. Sonny (Al Pacino) and Sal (John Cazale) are two desperate New Yorkers who rob a bank in Brooklyn, but their plans for a quick and clean getaway degenerate into a prolonged hostage negotiation. The ordeal turns into a massive spectacle, and the two amateur criminals find themselves notorious socio-political icons when their sexuality, military background, and personal woes become the subject of public scrutiny. The production of the film is infamous; most of the dialogue was improvised from a very basic script, and the demands placed on the actors were so stressful that Pacino became clinically exhausted during the shoot. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very good condition. There are some extra creases and pinholes in the corners. One of the great Lumet films. Ask us about linen backing and poster restoration.

Original MGM Set of 8 Printed Color Stills (8×10) from the Sidney Lumet dramatic masterpiece, NETWORK (1976)—starring Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch, and Robert Duvall. This excellent film is about a fading news anchor who is given a new lease after he speaks candidly, emotionally, and profanely about his feelings on his supposed last broadcast. But a Programming VP (Dunaway) decides he is the answer to all the network’s sagging ratings. The actors are all so superb (the film received five Academy Awards acting nominations) that they make screeching caricatures into almost sympathetic characters. The film has been described as high art masquerading as popular entertainment. These original studio color stills are in near mint condition. Included is the one truly great close up of the three men of NETWORK – Holden, Finch and Robert Duvall.

full.thefugitivekind WC

Original United Artists Window Card (14×22) for the Sidney Lumet romantic drama, THE FUGITIVE KIND (1960) starring Marlon Brando, Anna Magnani, and Joanne Woodward. With handsome magnetism, Brando seductively mixes his character’s predatory arrogance with flashes of sweet tenderness. This original window card is in very fine plus condition. An imprint for a Lousiana theater date is seen at the top of the card.
