BOLERO (1934)

Original Paramount Pictures Portrait Lobby Card (11×14) for the Wesley Ruggles dance drama, BOLERO (1934) starring George Raft, Carole Lombard, Sally Rand, and Frances Drake. This is the story of Raoul (Raft), who rises from a coalmine laborer to being one of the best dancer in Europe, and finally to owning his own club. The dances are actually Raft’s vaudeville and nightclub act before he came to Hollywood. At one point in his early career, Raft was a tea-room gigolo dancing with dowagers for tips and more. This great 30s dance film is more about mood and style and not so much about plot. Sally Rand does her famous “fan dance” complete with see-through negligee. From the famed Royal Theater Collection, this beautiful portrait lobby card of Raft and Lombard is in near mint condition. RARE.

Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Wesley Ruggles romantic comedy, SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS (1943)—starring Lana Turner, Robert Young, Walter Brennan, and Dame May Whitty. This delightful comedy finds Turner being bored with her job and with her life in Hotchkiss Falls. The film gave 21-year-old Turner her first big starring break in a film not dominated by a male star. While lightweight comedy for sure, Turner never misses a chance to give the role of scheming girl a sense of fun and innocence—with a sexy twist. This original one sheet poster is unbacked and in very good condition. There are some minor water stains along the bottom border and some minor fold distresses and separations.

IM NO ANGEL (1933) 19852

full-imnoangel-WC-19852-3

Original Paramount Pictures Window Card (14×22) for the Wesley Ruggles musical comedy, I’M NO ANGEL (1933) starring Mae West, Cary Grant, and Gregory Ratoff. This was Mae West’s second starring feature, and she is credited with writing the story, the screenplay, and all the dialogue. There were some problems with the censors, and some of the suggestive lines in some of the songs had to be changed. Amazingly, on this window card the tagline “Why don’t you come up and see me?” a quote made famous from her previous film SHE DONE HIM WRONG appears on this window card for I’M NO ANGEL. Following the success of SHE DONE HIM WRONG (1933), this film brought West and Grant together for a second and final time. This original window card is in very fine condition, paperbacked, ready for framing.
