Original RKO One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Don Hartman holiday-themed romantic comedy, HOLIDAY AFFAIR (1949)—starring Robert Mitchum, Janet Leigh, and Wendell Corey. Released on Christmas Eve in 1949, this bright and engaging comedy has single-mom Leigh being wooed by two men over the Christmas holidays—the warm-hearted dreamer Mitchum and seriously dull Corey. Both 20-year-old Leigh and her young 8-year-old son Gordon Gebbert are innocent and charming. Robert Mitchum departed from his usual machismo in to make this seasonal romantic comedy. The film was such a flop that RKO backed out of it’s contract with director Don Hartman. However, HOLIDAY AFFAIR has become a popular Christmas movie over the years thanks to regular TV broadcasts during the holiday season. Original Paramount Pictures Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the Michael Curtiz all-time Christmas favorite, WHITE CHRISTMAS (1954)—starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. All of the performances were wonderful, and Irving Berlin’s score was about half new songs and half from previous scores. Crosby is charming, witty, and utterly delightful. Danny Kaye is hilarious, and Clooney is riveting as the older of the two Haynes sisters. Vera-Ellen as the younger sister is also wonderful and performs some unbelievably good dancing. Of course, Crosby sang “White Christmas” in an earlier Paramount musical, HOLIDAY INN (1942) also scored by Irving Berlin. Indeed, Berlin won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year and was nominated for Best Original Song for “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” in WHITE CHRISTMAS. This was also the first film done in Paramount’s new wide screen process called VistaVision. This original half sheet poster is in fine condition. There are some distresses on centerfold line as well as some small creases, pinholes, and tears in the border area. This poster would present beautifully if restored and linen-backed.

Original MGM Children’s Matinees 1972 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Rossano Brazzi Christmas family fantasy, IL NATALE CHE QUASI NON FU (1966) know in the U. S. as THE CHRISTMAS THAT ALMOST WASN’T (1966) starring Brazzi, Paul Tripp, Mischa Auer, and Lydia Brazzi. This delightful Christmas fantasy has mean old Phineas Prune (Brazzi) who is threatening to evict Santa from the North Pole and take all the Christmas presents. This unusual one sheet poster is folded and in very good condition, but please note that there is some hand lettering of playdates on the poster.

Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Nagisa Oshima war drama, MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE (1983)—starring David Bowie, Tom Conti, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. This film tells the story of British major Jack Celliers (Bowie) who comes to a Japanese P.O.W. camp in 1942. The film shows most poignantly the physical and mental abuse the prisoners had to live with day in and day out. The eponymous Mr. Lawrence (Conti) has a most difficult time trying to reconcile his respect for Japanese culture with the total barbarity of the camp. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition.

This is the story of a boy named Ralphie (Billingsley) growing up in the 40s who wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. The film was mostly ignored when it was released but has slowly developed a cult following over the years and has become of filmdom’s favorite Christmas movies. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in near mint condition.

Original RKO Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the Frank Capra dramatic masterpiece, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) starring James Stewart, Donna Reed, Gloria Grahame and Lionel Barrymore. This film has enduring popularity because Stewart’s character is the kind of every man we can all identify with when he confronts the “richest and meanest man in town,” demonically portrayed by Barrymore. The film received five Academy Award nominations—including Best Picture, Best Director for Capra, and Best Actor for Stewart. In this lobby card, we see Stewart confronting the despot Barrymore in a key scene. There are some small holes and spots in the image area, some surface paper loss on the left border, and faint foxing and scuffing. This original scene lobby card is overall in very good condition.
