Special Esquire Magazine 40×60 poster for the Lewis Gilbert sci-fi adventure, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967) starring Sean Connery, Akiko Wakabayashi, and Donald Pleasence. This was the fifth in the James Bond series and had a budget of 10 million dollars, most of which was spent on fabricating the SPECTRE volcano headquarters. SPECTRE agent Blofeld (Pleasence) is set on taking control of the world, instigating World War III by literally “gobbling up” an American spacecraft and making the Americans think the Soviets did it. The British secret service devises an elaborate ploy to make everyone think Bond has been killed, but the resurrected hero secretly makes his way to the SPECTRE headquarters disguised as a peasant fisherman. Aided by Ninja soldiers, Bond accomplishes his task and once again saves the world from disaster. This 40×60 poster is rare and was a special posters made to promote the film and an article about the movie in Esquire. The poster is folded and in fine plus condition. At the top border area there is one small browned spot. This copy was used in a theater for the original exhibition of the film.
