TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE (2004) 20666

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet poster for the Trey Parker and Matt Stone film TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE (2004). This high camp comedy utilizes the process of puppetry (actually marionettes) to tell a satirical, funny and highly sexual tale of anti-terrorist American agents infiltrating the palaces of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in an attempt to stop the annihilation of the world through propaganda and nuclear weapons. If that plot description sounds crazy, it is and IT’S FUNNY! The use of puppets in the film is highly reminiscent of the “Super-Marionation” techniques created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson in such cult 1960s programming as FIREBALL XL5 and THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO. The poster is in very fine plus condition, rolled and double-sided.

full.slapshot 1sh 16271

Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the George Roy Hill hockey drama, SLAP SHOT (1977) starring Paul Newman, Strother Martin, Michael Ontkean, and Jennifer Warren. After the success of THE STING (1973), Paul Newman wanted to do another film with George Roy Hill. That film turned out to be SLAP SHOT, one of the best sports-related films of the late seventies. The film concerns a down on their luck scrappy hockey team facing the travails of aging players, volatile relationships, sagging economics, competition and the endless rigors of touring. From this soup comes one of the funniest, most foul-mouthed, and liveliest films of Newman’s career. Add a dash of vintage seventies music and mix with some good sex and a lot of the famed Newman charm and you have SLAP SHOT. With artwork by Arno, this original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.

ONE, TWO, THREE (1961) 6160A

full-onetwothree-1sh-6160

This is an original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Billy Wilder fast and funny cold-war comedy, ONE, TWO, THREE (1961) starring James Cagney, Horst Buchholz, Pamela Tiffin, and Arlene Francis. Cagney’s character runs the German branch of Coca-Cola in Berlin. He realizes that he may be fired if he can’t keep his American boss’s daughter (Tiffin) from marrying a raging communist (Buchholz). Even though the Berlin Wall began construction during production, Wilder nevertheless had a ball reducing the Cold War to its basic absurdities. This was James Cagney’s last major role in his long and illustrious career. He was patient and kind to the relatively inexperienced Tiffin (her third feature film) but came to loath Buchholz, whom he accused of trying to steal every scene. The film received a lone Academy Award nomination for best Black and White Cinematography for Daniel L. Fapp. The poster is folded and in near mint condition. An excellent example of a Saul Bass poster. The poster says DESIGNED BY SAUL BASS.

full-zelig-1sh-3086

This is an original Orion Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Woody Allen comedy fantasy, ZELIG (1983) starring Allen, Mia Farrow, and Patrick Hogan. Not only is it a fake documentary (“mockumentary”), but it also sustains this format throughout the entire film. Allen used special lenses to create old style newsreels from the 1920s. He also used real photo stills from the period as well as mixing real footage with his own to give a compelling allusion of authenticity. Cinematographer Gordon Willis received an Academy Award nomination of his excellent work on this wildly original project. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
