The smaller counter-standee posters for this 1966 surfing classic have been seen in the last several years, but the full one sheet size is now definitely scarce. Wonderful day-glo ink art by John Van Hamersveld. THE ENDLESS SUMMER began its trek to feature film status as a series of homemade but rather excellently filmed surfing travelogues, presented in high school and civic auditoria throughout California, created by the inveterate surfer Bruce Brown. These individual films were fashioned into a 95 minute theatrical film released by Cinema V. In this movie the surfers Michael Hynson and Robert August criss-crossed the world in search of the most seductive wave they could find. Engaging homespun narration, laced with the sixties most bitchin’ surfing lingo and guitar, and spot-on colorful (16mm!) cinematography attracted audiences all over the world. The film has been often imitated – it spawned its own sequel, THE ENDLESS SUMMER 2 (1994) and most recently the hi-def technically dazzling STEP INTO LIQUID (2003). And the Australians made a bunch of surfing features of their own. Ask about our collection of those! But for sheer charm, nothing can top THE ENDLESS SUMMER. Very fine plus, folded.

Original Orion Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the John Sayles baseball drama, EIGHT MEN OUT (1988) starring John Cusack, Clifton James, Michael Lerner, and Christopher Lloyd. One of the best baseball movies ever made, the film is a dramatization of the scandal in 1919 surrounding charges that the Chicago White Sox accepted bribes to deliberately lose the World Series. The Chicago players involved in the payoff were banned from baseball for life. This original one sheet poster is rolled and in near mint condition.

With the unrivaled success of the original film, Stallone decided to helm this action-packed sequel that audiences were clamoring for in 1979. This time, little-known boxer Rocky Balboa faces Apollo Creed, the heavyweight champ. The art on this Polish poster features four leaves of a lucky four-leaf clover — each a boxing glove symbolizing a “lucky punch.” With artwork by Edward Lutczyn, this original Polish poster is in very fine condition.

This film has a soap opera plot pasted on some really great racing scenes with exceptional cinematography and a great musical score. The real stars of the film are the beautiful Formula 1 “cigar” cars of the 60s. The film also chronicles how the racing world was changing from the gentlemen’s league of the 50s to the overtly commercial and brutally competitive environment that F1 racing was to become. This original three sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition, with only a minor water stain in the bottom border area.

This is the sad story of Nathaniel “Cornbread” Hamilton—a college-bound basketball star and hero to youngsters Wilford (Fisburne) and Earl (Turner)—who is shot to death by police who mistake him for an armed rapist. Thirteen-year-old Fishburne delivers a believable and poignant portrayal of the kid witness to this debacle who must stand up to police corruption and intimidation.
