Original Polish Poster (28×38) for the George Cukor romantic trifle, LET’S MAKE LOVE (1960) starring Marilyn Monroe, Yves Montand, Tony Randall, Wilfred Hyde-White, Milton Berle and Joe Besser. Monroe is a Broadway starlet performing in a revue satirizing a French tycoon. The tycoon (Montand) goes backstage to investigate, and through mistaken identity is given the actual role. Monroe learns to be funny, thanks to the likes of Milton Berle and several other celebrities. Throw in Elvis and Maria Callas impersonators and even a Van Cliburn lookalike and you get the drift! Poster design features a sexy portrait of Monroe with Montand as a butterfly, flitting by. Art on this poster is by Jackk Neugebauer. Very Fine Plus.

Original Merchant Ivory One Sheet Poster (23.5 x 37.5) for the Simon Callow mystery drama, THE BALLAD OF THE SAD CAFÉ (1991) starring Vanessa Redgrave, Keith Carradine, Cork Hubbert, and Rod Steiger. Based on the Broadway production of the same name by Edward Albee, which opened at the Martin Beck Theater on October 30, 1963 and won the Tony award for Best Play the next year. This complicated love triangle is set in the rural South in the early 20th century and concerns the life of Miss Amelia, marvelously portrayed by Redgrave in one of the best performances of her distinguished career, who is the town eccentric—selling corn liquor and dispensing medicine. This special size original one sheet poster is folded and in fine condition, with only some minor fold distresses.

Original Artkino Pictures One Sheet Poster (29×43) for the Vera Stroyeva film version of the Modest Mussorgsky opera, BORIS GOUDUNOV (1954) starring Bolshoi Opera stars Aleksandr Pirogov, Nikandr Khanayev, and Georgi Nelepp. Considered by many music critics to be the greatest Russian opera, both the singing and orchestral performances in this film are powerful and stunning. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.

The American Film Theater was an attempt to bring theater to film audiences. The series was produced by Ely Landau. Tickets were sold by subscription for the entire series. Films of these plays were exhibited in 500 theaters in 400 cities. This poster for the second series advertised THE MAN IN THE GLASS BOOTH, IN CELEBRATION, Jean Genet’s THE MAIDS, Bertholt Brecht’s GALILEO and JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS. An interesting piece of non-Hollywood film ephemera.

This classic story of ambition and betrayal chronicles the lengths to which aspiring actress Eve Harrington (Baxter) will go to worm her way into the lives of the established and temperamental Broadway icon, Margo Channing (Davis), and her intimate theater friends. The film received 14 Academy Award nominations and is tied with TITANIC (1997) for the most nominations ever. It won 6 Oscars, including Best Supporting Actor for George Sanders, Best Director and Best Screenplay for Mankiewicz, and Best Picture. Both Davis and Baxter were nominated for Best Actress. This original insert poster is in fine condition. This poster has been paper-backed and presents beautifully. The insert is particularly treasured because of the inset photo at the bottom, which pictures Marilyn Monroe.
