ONE, TWO, THREE (1961) 6160B
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41). Autographed by Billy Wilder. Saul Bass artwork. Folded. Fine plus condition.
This is an original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Billy Wilder fast and funny cold-war comedy, ONE, TWO, THREE (1961)—starring James Cagney, Horst Buchholz, Pamela Tiffin, and Arlene Francis. Cagney’s character runs the German branch of Coca-Cola in Berlin. He realizes that he may be fired if he can’t keep his American boss’s daughter (Tiffin) from marrying a raging communist (Buchholz). Even though the Berlin Wall began construction during production, Wilder nevertheless had a ball reducing the Cold War to its basic absurdities. This was James Cagney’s last major role in his long and illustrious career. He was patient and kind to the relatively inexperienced Tiffin (her third feature film) but came to loath Buchholz, whom he accused of trying to steal every scene. The film received a lone Academy Award nomination for best Black and White Cinematography for Daniel L. Fapp. The poster is autographed by Billy Wilder. The poster is folded and in fine plus condition. An excellent example of a Saul Bass poster. The poster says DESIGNED BY SAUL BASS.
13 GHOSTS (1960) 3340
Original Columbia Pictures Style A One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
Original Columbia Pictures Style A One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the William Castle horror classic, 13 GHOSTS (1960)--starring Charles Herbert, Jo Morrow, Martin Milner, Donald Woods, Rosemary DeCamp, and Margaret Hamilton. This fun horror film is the story of a family who inherits a house with twelve ghosts and space for one more. The house used in the film would later be used as the home of TV’s “The Munsters.” Wicked Witch of the West Margaret Hamilton gives a memorable performance as the eccentric housekeeper. The film also used a nifty gimmick called “Illusion-O,” a pair of red and blue colored glasses. During the color ghosts sequences, audiences could see the spirits only with the red “Ghost Viewer” side and remove them with the blue “Ghost Remover.” This cinematic breakthrough was devised by gimmick-master William Castle. This original style A one sheet is folded and in very fine condition. We have lesser condition copies of this poster for a lesser price.
2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) 19361
Original MGM Six Sheet Poster (81×81). Robert “Bob” McCall artwork. Very fine condition.
This is an original MGM Six Sheet Poster (81x81) for the Stanley Kubrick sci-fi masterpiece, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968)—starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, and William Sylvester. Based on the Arthur C. Clarke story called “The Sentinel,” the film is essentially a story about evolution. Sometime in the distant past, “something” nudged evolution by placing a monolith on earth that imparts the knowledge of tool use to early humanoids. Evolution then enables mankind to reach the moon, where yet another monolith is “deliberately buried” and emits a signal aimed at Jupiter. Then, six astronauts (four in hibernation) and a very sophisticated computer embark on a journey to Jupiter in hopes of finding the source. The pace is slow with incredible attention to detail, which very realistically envisions the future of technology. The special effects that were pioneered for this film are still breathtaking by today’s standards. Kurick’s use of a classical music score creates a haunting atmosphere of awe, mystery, and intrigue. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Director for Kubrick and Best Screenplay for Clarke and Kubrick. Kubrick did win the Oscar for Best Special Visual Effects. This original six sheet poster with artwork by Robert “Bob” McCall is in very fine condition.

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) 14822
Original 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY one sheet poster (27×41.) Edition of 1970. Very fine condition.
This poster is one in a series of one-sheet posters issued by MGM after the initial release of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY in 1968. The poster is considered original, but the first campaign for the film featured illustrations by Frank McCall and even some color photographic posters. This poster, with its tagline, "The Ultimate Trip", was designed by Mike Kaplan and is said to have been issued to capitalize on what MGM came to see as a growing phenomenon -- people showing up to see the film while tripping on psychedelic drugs. It became de rigueur to see the film in an altered state. This film was certainly an "event" film, and the movie played for two to three years in one venue or another. MGM did not officially re-release the film until 1974. The first "starchild" poster is utterly undated and VERY rare, but subsequent editions of the poster are dated 1969, 1970, and 1971. This folded copy is in very fine condition with minimal fold separation.
3 GODFATHERS (1948) 19363
Original MGM Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Beautiful artwork by Tomaso. Linen-backed. Very fine condition.
Original MGM Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the John Ford classic western, 3 GODFATHERS (1948)—starring John Wayne, Pedro Armendariz, Harry Carey Jr., and Ward Bond. This is a tale of three men (Wayne, Armendariz, and Carey Jr.) who rob a bank and are trying to avoid the local Marshall and his posse. In the wilderness, they find a woman who has just given birth. She is dying and pleads with the men to take care of her child. The “three godfathers” decide to do their best by the new born and set off across the desert. This film was a remake of the silent film THE THREE GODFATHERS (1916), which starred Ford’s long-time friend Harry Carey. After Carey died in 1947, Ford decided to remake the story in Technicolor and dedicate it to his memory. Also Carey’s son, Harry Jr., plays one of the three godfathers. This beautiful, linen-backed three sheet poster with great artwork by Tomaso is in very fine condition.
40-HORSE HAWKINS (1924) 19348
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Stone lithograph. Very fine condition, with only pinholes in corners, minor crossfold separations, and light edge wear. Theater information printed along bottom border.
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Edward Sedgwick comedy, 40-HORSE HAWKINS (1924)—starring Hoot Gibson, Anne Cornwall, and Richard Tucker. Small-town handyman Luke (Gibson) falls for actress Mary (Cornwall) and follows her back to New York. There he lands a part as a spear-carrier in Mary’s new show, and that’s when the wacky fun really begins. An accomplished cowboy in real life, Gibson was one of the few silent stars to make the successful transition to talkies. A beautiful example of early poster art, this original stone lithograph one sheet poster is in very fine condition—with only some pinholes in the corners, minor crossfold separations, and light edge wear. Additionally, theater information has been printed along the bottom border.

Hattie McDaniel is best known for her performance as Mammy, the sassy foil to Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind.
