HOT SPOT (I WAKE UP SCREAMING) (1941) 17126

Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster for the working title but released under the title, I WAKE UP SCREAMING (1941). Linen-backed. Fine condition.

This is an original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the early H. Bruce Humberstone film-noir thriller, HOT SPOT (1941) the original working title but later changed to I WAKE UP SCREAMING (1941) based on a serialized novel by Steve Fisher and starring Betty Grable, Victor Mature, and Laird Cregar. This excellent thriller has a good plot, polished elegance, sly humor, and superb character performances. It was World War II pin-up girl Grable's first dramatic role as the sister of a murdered model, and many film critics consider this film to be Victor Mature's best role. But the standout performance is Laird Cregar, the obsessive and corrupt police detective, who is genuinely creepy if not outright frightening. This early film noir has a strong sense of visual style created by the great cinematography of Edward Cronjager, who uses the dramatic angles and camera lighting, for which film noir would become recognized, to great effect. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine condition. There is some restoration at the top fold lines.
