Original 20th Century Fox Style A Stone Lithograph One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Walter Lang drama, SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY (1946)—starring John Payne, Maureen O’Hara, William Bendix, Cedric Hardwicke, and Connie Marshall. While employing the theme of a young couple adopting a child, this incarnation has the mother dying and leaving the child to cope with the loss personally while also helping her adoptive father overcome his bereavement. The title comes from the mother’s love of listening to records and in particular her favorite hit tune of the day, “Sentimental Journey.” Sentiment, tragedy, and even a touch a comedy (thanks to William Bendix) combine beautifully in this winning and charming story. This poster is a beautiful example of the Fox stone-lithographer's craft. Beautiful.

This is an original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Jean Negulesco film-noir thriller, ROAD HOUSE (1948)—starring Ida Lupino, Cornel Wilde, and Richard Widmark. Roadhouse owner, Jefty Robbins (Widmark), hires sultry, tough-talking torch singer Lily (Lupino) against the advise of his manager Pete Morgan (Wilde). When Robbins falls for Lily, she turns her attentions to the Pete who is playing hard to get. This is certainly one of Lupino’s best performances, and her rendition of the song “One for My Baby” is a wonderful combination of alcohol and cigarettes. Widmark is at his best when he is playing a “psycho villain” role, and Jefty’s murderous jealously produces a twisted plot to “punish” the two lovers. The direction, screenplay, and cinematography are all excellent in this film. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in good condition with some restoration touch-up and repair of missing chips. Minor water stain in upper border area.

This is an original 20th Century Fox Lobby Card (11x14) for the Otto Preminger western adventure, RIVER OF NO RETURN (1954)—starring Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe, and Rory Calhoun. Set in Northwest Canada in the gold rush days, the story revolves around Matt Calder (Mitchum) and his ten-year-old son who help an unexpected couple—a no good gambler (Calhoun) and former saloon girl (Monroe)—who lose control of their raft on the river. But when Calhoun steals their only horse and rifle, the remaining three are unable to defend themselves against a likely Indian attack. The three then begin a treacherous journey down the river. Photographed in Technicolor and CinemaScope by Joseph LaShelle in Banff, Alberta, the film captures the splendors of the glorious Canadian wilderness. Note the lobby card mentions Stereophonic Directional Sound! This original scene card is in very fine condition.

This is an original 20th Century Fox Insert Poster (14x36) for the Herbert I. Leeds classic western, RIDE ON VAQUERO (1941)—starring Cesar Romero, Mary Beth Hughes, and Lynne Roberts. Romero plays the popular western character The Cisco Kid, based on a fictional western character created by O. Henry in his 1907 short story, “ The Caballero’s Way.” Romero began the series in 1939 and played the character successfully in five more films. In this film, The Cisco Kid is enlisted by the U.S. Cavalry to help them identify a kidnapping gang. This insert poster was originally folded and is very good plus condition. This film is the final segment of the original trilogy that included STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STIKES BACK, and originally the working title of the film was REVENGE OF THE JEDI. It is the most spectacular of the original three films because by this time George Lucas and his cohorts at the Industrial Light and Magic Company had truly perfected their special effects craft. Sensational effects include floating barges, incredible creatures, airborne cycles, death ray machines, and light sabers. We also see the progression of the character of Luke Skywalker from whinny teenager to impatient student to enlightened warrior. Luke also reaches a final reconciliation with his father Darth Vader. This is an original 20th Century Fox 1982 2nd Advance Poster (27x41) for Richard Marquand sci-fi epic, STAR WARS: EPISODE VI--RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983)—starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Billy Dee Williams. This film is the final segment of the original trilogy that included STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STIKES BACK, and originally the working title of the film was REVENGE OF THE JEDI. The first advance poster did not have release date at the bottom of the poster, but this second advance poster did have the release date. When it was decided to change the name, both advance posters were recalled, and supposedly fewer than a 1000 of these posters were not returned. By the time of its production, George Lucas and his cohorts at the Industrial Light and Magic Company had truly perfected their special effects craft. Sensational effects include floating barges, incredible creatures, airborne cycles, death ray machines, and light sabers. We see the progression of the character of Luke Skywalker from whinny teenager to impatient student to enlightened warrior. Luke also reaches a final reconciliation with his father Darth Vader. This rare, recalled advance poster is in near mint condition.
