NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) 14934
Original MGM 30×40 Poster. Mounted to stiff board. Fine plus condition.
This is a rare 30x40 poster for the Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959), starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, Leo G. Carroll, James Mason, and Martin Landau. One of the most famous of Hitchcock's films of the 1950s, NORTH BY NORTHWEST is endlessly entertaining. Quoting from THE MOTION PICTURE GUIDE: "One of Hitchcock's best, NORTH BY NORTHWEST has everything - thrills, suspense, intrigue, mystery, humor and no little comedy, black as a coal pit, of course, in keeping with the darkly whimsical perspective of that pantheon director. Grant, Saint, Mason and Carroll are simply marvelous in their intricate roles, and, aside from Grant, it's hard to tell whether they're good or bad until the film has dragged the viewer feet-first into the complex plot. Peril of the common man or not-so-common man is always at the apex of any Hitchcock tale and this film is no exception." This is one of the trickiest of Hitchcock films and his last film with Cary Grant. The famous finale on Mount Rushmore and the crop duster buzzing Cary Grant are among the most famous Hitchcock screen moments. The film was produced by Ernest Lehman and has an unforgettable score by Bernard Herrmann. We are giving this poster a Fine Plus rating only because it is mounted to a board. It presents beautifully as is, but MovieArt will pay to have the poster removed and paperbacked if the customer desires. Better and more desired than the one sheet which is only printed in duotone. And much scarcer.

This wonderful poster is rarely offered for sale-- so act accordingly! This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition.
PSYCHO (1960) 8653 Yugoslavian
Original Yugoslavian 1980s Re-release Poster (20×28). Fine plus condition.
This is an original Yugoslavian 1980s Re-release Poster (20x28) for the Alfred Hitchcock horror-thriller masterpiece, PSYCHO (1960)—starring Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, and John Gavin. Considered by many critics to be the best horror movie of all time, this film was superlative in every way. Starting with one of the best screenplays by Joseph Stefano based on the novel by Robert Block-- the acting is perfect, the cinematography of John L. Russell is beautiful, and the soundtrack by Bernard Herrmann is exceptional. However, the outstanding direction by Hitchcock is the crowning touch of this great film. The handling of every nuance—gestures, glances, and sudden changes in lighting—is masterful. The acting by Janet Leigh has often been praised, but the performance by Anthony Perkins with his facial tics and half-swallowed words is subtle, cool, unsettling, and just plain creepy. Prior to PSYCHO, horror movies were monsters, zombies, werewolves, and vampires. This film was the first true “psychological thriller.” Though we have become jaded with legions of realistic gore since this movie was released, seeing a nude woman murdered in the shower was something no one had experienced yet in 1960. This original Yugoslavian re-release poster is in fine condition with some edge wear, creasing, and one extra soft fold.
FRENZY (1972) 3056
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Fine condition with only minor fold separations, small tears, and a missing chip in the upper right border.
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock crime thriller, FRENZY (1972)—starring Jon Finch, Barry Foster, and Barbara Leigh-Hunt. This is Hitchcock’s next to last film, and many critics rank it among his best. The story revolves around a serial killer who is savagely raping London women and then strangling them with a necktie. Scripted with ghoulish humor by Anthony Schaffer, it is the first Hitchcock film with nude scenes. Indeed, Hitchcock presents a sequence that many believe equals the notorious “shower scene” in PSYCHO (1960)—a horrific rape and slow strangulation that leaves the viewer simply stunned. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine condition with only some minor fold separations, small tears, and a missing chip in the upper right border.

Considered by many critics to be one of Hitchcock’s masterpieces, this film tells the story of a wheelchair bound photographer (Stewart), who spies on his neighbors from his apartment window and becomes convinced that one of them has committed murder. The film focuses on the seduction of crime, not in committing it but in the act of discovering it. The entire movie was shot on one set, the largest indoor set ever built at Paramount studios at the time. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. This original three sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition. In fact, you could not hope to find a three sheet in better condition than this one!
JAMAICA INN (1939) 20186
Original Verity Films 1949 Reissue Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Very fine condition.
Original Verity Films 1949 Reissue Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock crime adventure, JAMAICA INN (1939)—starring Charles Laughton, Horace Hodges, Marie Ney, and Maureen O’Hara. This was the last movie Hitchcock made in his native England before coming to Hollywood. It was the first of three Daphne Du Maurier tales that Hitchcock made into movies; the other two were REBECCA (1940) and THE BIRDS (1963). Set in Cornwall in the early 19th century, a young orphan Mary (O’Hara) goes to live with her aunt and uncle who are also the landlords of the Jamaica Inn. Mary soon realizes that the Inn is the base of a gang of pirates who lure ships to their doom on the rocky coast. This original 1949 reissue scene lobby card is in very fine condition.

Starring Hedren as Marnie and Connery as the man who falls in love with her, this movie tells of a compulsive thief and pathological liar who is caught by Connery and blackmailed into marrying him. Though a critical and financial failure when released in 1964, the film has been “rediscovered’ by critics who are fascinated with the film’s emphasis on Freudian psychoanalysis, sexual abuse, gender roles, trauma, and sexual deviance. This original scene lobby card of Connery and Hedren is in very fine condition.

As the evening wears on, Brandon becomes ever bolder, while Phillip begins to regret what they have done. The plot is simple, the characters complex, and Hitchcock’s treatment of the Leopold and Loeb parallel quite deft. This original scene lobby card is in fine condition-- with numerous pinholes, some surface wear, and minor staining.

This film revolves around a female psychoanalyst (Berman) who tries to protect the identity of an amnesia patient (Peck) accused of murder while attempting to recover his memory. With outstanding performances, especially from Bergman and Peck who portray one of the great romantic couples of movie history, along with stunning cinematography and an Academy Award winning score from Miklos Rozsa – all make this film very memorable. The film had five other Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Hitchcock. This original scene lobby card is in very fine condition.
STAGE FRIGHT (1950) 20193
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Very fine condition.
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock crime thriller, STAGE FRIGHT (1950)—starring Jane Wyman, Marlene Dietrich, Michael Wilding, and Richard Todd. Set in London, this is the story of a struggling actress (Wyman) who tries to help a friend (Todd) prove his innocence when he’s accused of murdering the husband of a high society entertainer. Making wonderful use of black comedy, this film boasts excellent performances from Wyman shifting effortlessly from aspiring actress to love struck protectress, from Dietrich who is hilariously catty as the flamboyant theater star, and Todd who is wickedly suspicious as the suspected murderer. This original lobby card of Dietrich and Todd is in very fine condition with only some minor rumpling.
THE PARADINE CASE (1947) 20188

Adapted from a novel by Robert Hichens, this is the story of a happily married London barrister (Peck) who falls in love with the accused poisoner (Valli) he is defending. This was Peck’s second and last film for Hitchcock. Laughton gives one of his best performances as the sadistic and malevolent judge. Barrymore received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the judge’s intimidated and submissive wife. This original scene lobby card is in very fine condition. It does have the National Screen Service embossment in the lower right corner.
THE WRONG MAN (1956) 20198
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Very good condition.
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock crime drama, THE WRONG MAN (1956)—starring Henry Fonda, Vera Miles, Anthony Quayle, and Harold J. Stone. This film tells the true story of Manny Balestrero (Fonda), a club musician unjustly accused of an armed robbery. Though Manny vehemently protest his innocence, his actions at every turn seem to belie his guilt. Instead of the usual Hitchcock cameo appearance, the director narrates the prologue, the only time he actually spoke in any of his films. Fonda gives an excellent performance of the quietly stunned Manny who slowly descends into total helplessness and powerlessness as he wends his way through the criminal justice system. This original scene card is in very good condition, with only minor edge wear and some pinholes.
TO CATCH A THIEF (1955) 20195
TO CATCH A THIEF (1955) U.S. scene card
Original Paramount Pictures scene lobby card for the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, TO CATCH A THIEF (1955)—starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Grant plays a retired jewel thief and Kelly plays the slightly naughty daughter of a nouveau riche oil millionaire. Grace Kelly, John Williams and a police detective are showed in period dress at the costume ball. This film was somewhat lighter fare for Hitchcock without his trademark suspense, but with snappy dialogue replete with sexual innuendo. Nominated for three Academy Awards, Robert Burks won the Oscar for Best Color Cinematography. He shot almost the entire film on location on the French Riviera. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.
VERTIGO (1958) 20197
Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine plus condition.
Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller masterpiece, VERTIGO (1958)—starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes. This Hitchcock classic tells the story of a former San Francisco detective (Stewart) suffering from acrophobia who investigates the strange activities of an old friend’s wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her. Hitchcock creates some of his most hypnotic scenes in this film as well as a general sense of unease and dread-- even in seemingly banal situations. Bernard Herrmann’s excellent score is a perfect compliment to this complex and suspenseful story. The score is perhaps more important here than it most films, because much of the story is told simply with Stewart’s and Novak’s facial expressions and the music. Stewart gives one of the best performances of his career, and Novak is completely convincing in her dual roles. This original scene lobby card is in fine plus condition, with only some minor smudging and staining in the borders.
VERTIGO (1958) 7902
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.

THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (1955) 3185
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
This is an original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock comedy thriller, THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (1955)—starring Edmund Gwenn, Mildred Natwick, John Forsythe, and Shirley MacLaine in her first screen roll. While many Hitchcock films had humor in them, this was full-fledged black comedy, which was mostly a subtle satire of 50’s morality. The acting performances are superb and are the most delightful aspect of the film-- as there are no expected Hitchcock action sequences, like a spectacular climax on a national monument. This original reissue one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
ROPE (1948) 1506
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller, ROPE (1948)—starring James Stewart, Joan Chandler, John Dall, and Farley Granger. THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1956) 3264
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller, THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1956)—starring James Stewart, Doris Day, Brenda De Banzie, and Bernard Miles. Hitchcock had already made this story in a British film in 1934. It chronicles a family vacationing in Morocco who accidentally stumbles on to an assassination plot. But, the conspirators are determined to prevent the family from interfering. The only Oscar the film won was for the Best Original Song, “Que Sera, Sera” which was sung by Doris Day, who at first refused to record the song, dismissing it as “a forgettable children’s song.” When she did finally record the song, it became the biggest hit of her recording career and her signature song. This original re-release one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (1951) 13777
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Linen backed. Fine plus condition.
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (1951)—starring Farley Granger, Ruth Roman, and Robert Walker. You do my murder and I'll do yours. This is the nasty bargain that Farley Granger and Robert Walker make in one of our favorite Hitchcock films. There's a subliminal homosexual subtext from the fawning Walker and a snotty above-it-all knowingness from Granger that make this one of the most delicious and scary of Hitchcock's 1950s masterpieces. The story came from the novel by Patricia Highsmith, author of the equally lurid THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY. We think that the three sheet is one of the best posters on the film. This poster is linen backed with some minor restoration at the fold lines and other touch-up. Fine plus condition.
