Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is an original MGM Title Lobby Card (11x14) for the George Sidney musical comedy, KISS ME KATE (1953)—starring Kathryn Grayson, Howard Keel, and Ann Miller. KISS ME KATE and WEST SIDE STORY are the two most famous musical adaptations of Shakespeare for stage and screen. Cole Porter’s great lyrics and catchy tunes resulted in the biggest Broadway run of any of his shows (1077 performances) and yielded more hit songs for him that any other production. Grayson and Keel delivered great singing, and Miller literally burned up the screen with her dancing, especially in the number “Too Darn Hot.” Originally filmed in 3-D at a time when the studios were using every gimmick to get people away from their televisions and back to the theaters, the film remains one of the best MGM musicals of the era. This original title card is in very fine condition for its age, having only some minor discoloration in the border area, one small tear in the upper left border and a few pinholes in the image area.
