Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Very Fine.
Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, TO CATCH A THIEF (1955)—starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Grant plays a retired jewel thief and Kelly plays a slightly naughty nouveau riche daughter of an oil millionaire. This film was somewhat lighter fare for Hitchcock without his trademark suspense, but with snappy dialogue replete with sexual innuendo. Nominated for three Academy Awards, Robert Burks won the Oscar for Best Color Cinematography. He shot almost the entire film on location on the French Riviera. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.
NOTORIOUS (1946) 16807

This original RKO scene card is in very fine condition with only some minor tears and edge wear in the borders.
NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) 14934
Original MGM 30×40 Poster. Mounted to stiff board. Fine plus condition.
This is a rare 30x40 poster for the Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959), starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, Leo G. Carroll, James Mason, and Martin Landau. One of the most famous of Hitchcock's films of the 1950s, NORTH BY NORTHWEST is endlessly entertaining. Quoting from THE MOTION PICTURE GUIDE: "One of Hitchcock's best, NORTH BY NORTHWEST has everything - thrills, suspense, intrigue, mystery, humor and no little comedy, black as a coal pit, of course, in keeping with the darkly whimsical perspective of that pantheon director. Grant, Saint, Mason and Carroll are simply marvelous in their intricate roles, and, aside from Grant, it's hard to tell whether they're good or bad until the film has dragged the viewer feet-first into the complex plot. Peril of the common man or not-so-common man is always at the apex of any Hitchcock tale and this film is no exception." This is one of the trickiest of Hitchcock films and his last film with Cary Grant. The famous finale on Mount Rushmore and the crop duster buzzing Cary Grant are among the most famous Hitchcock screen moments. The film was produced by Ernest Lehman and has an unforgettable score by Bernard Herrmann. We are giving this poster a Fine Plus rating only because it is mounted to a board. It presents beautifully as is, but MovieArt will pay to have the poster removed and paperbacked if the customer desires. Better and more desired than the one sheet which is only printed in duotone. And much scarcer.
IM NO ANGEL (1933) 19852
Original Paramount Pictures Window Card (14×22). Very fine condition.
This is an original Paramount Pictures Window Card (14x22) for the Wesley Ruggles musical comedy, I’M NO ANGEL (1933)—starring Mae West, Cary Grant, and Gregory Ratoff. This was Mae West’s second starring feature, and she is credited with writing the story, the screenplay, and all the dialogue. There were some problems with the censors, and some of the suggestive lines in some of the songs had to be changed. Amazingly, on this window card the tagline "Why don't you come up and see me?" a quote made famous from SHE DONE HIM WRONG appears on this window card for I'M NO ANGEL, West's next film. Following the success of SHE DONE HIM WRONG (1933), this film brought West and Grant together for a second and final time. This original window card is in very fine condition, paperbacked, ready for framing.
PEOPLE WILL TALK (1951) 16410
Original 20th Century Fox Insert Poster (14×36). Very fine condition.
Joseph L. Mankiewicz directed this brilliant little film the year after he won two Oscars for the immortal ALL ABOUT EVE. Cary Grant plays Dr. Noah Praetorius, a doctor who believes that a healthy and balanced mind can cure a person's ills as well or better as handfuls of pills might. He believes in treating his patients as well as their diseases. This gets him into some considerable trouble with his colleagues at the clinic. Add a bit of love interest in the person of the lovely Jeanne Crain and you have this sparkling witty comedy. The movie was based on a German play by Curt Goetz, "Dr. Praetorius." And a sophisticated film it is, too, with one of Grant's best and really least appreciated performances. Thanks be to God for Joe Mankiewicz!

This card has been recently cleaned and presents beautifully. One of the great Hitchcock cards.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940) 19358
Original MGM Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine plus condition. Minor tears in the top, left, and bottom corners. Blunted corners.
Original MGM Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the George Cukor classic romantic comedy, THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940)—starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. One of the greatest romantic comedies of all time, the story is set around the wedding of Philadelphia heiress Tracy Lord (Hepburn). Her ex-husband Dexter (Grant) decides to crash the event and brings along two reporters (Stewart and Hussey). After a number of disappointing films in the mid-1930s, Hepburn decided to return to Broadway and starred in the stage version of this play, which was written by playwright Phillip Barry especially for Hepburn. An unmitigated hit, Hepburn purchased the movie rights and sold them to MGM. This triumphal return to the screen in this unforgettable role instantly reignited her movie career. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director for Cukor, and Best Actress for Hepburn. The film won the Oscars for Best Screenplay to Donald Ogden Stewart and Best Supporting Actor to Stewart. This original scene card is in fine plus condition—with only some minor tears in the top, left, and bottom corners as well as blunted corners.

They story revolves around a woman (Hepburn), who is pursued by several men who want a fortune her murdered husband had stolen. Blessed with a literate script, elegant and classy performances by Grant and Hepburn, and direction with a continental style and flare by Donen—the end result is one of the best light mysteries ever made. Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer won the Academy Award for Best Original Song (“Charade”). CHARADE was certainly the last great film for Cary Grant, whose chemistry with Hepburn is unbeatable. The insert poster was never folded, and is the best example of the poster in this format that we have seen.

THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940) 16413 1955R
Original MGM 1955 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22×28). Folded. Good plus condition.
Original MGM 1955 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22x28) for the George Cukor classic romantic comedy, THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940)—starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. Katherine Hepburn had been famously labeled "box office poison" by the exhibitors after several of her films in the late thirties had turned out huge flops. But the right property, the right cast and the right director combined to make THE PHILADELPHIA STORY her "comeback" vehicle. Not that she had ever really gone away. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY had been a popular play on Broadway, and Hepburn was prescient enough to buy the film rights for herself. It actually plays more like a film from the previous decade than the forties -- witty, elegant, democratic, disdainful of pomposity. This re-release half sheet from 1955 needs some small amount of work, but is available for a fraction of the price of any 1940 poster. And the graphic is great with good images of the three main players. The poster is folded. Good plus condition. Has some marker on the reverse side which has bled lightly to the front. This can be fixed. We recommend paper-backing for this poster. MovieArt can help you with suggestions for restoration.
