CASABLANCA (1942) 19671
Original Warner Bros. Duotone One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Fine Plus.
This is an original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Michael Curtiz romantic classic, CASABLANCA (1942)—starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, and Claude Rains. This title became one of America’s most popular and beloved films of all time with an inspired script by Julius and Phillip Epstein, superlative performances by all, a wonderful score by Max Steiner, and faultless direction by Michael Curtiz. This turbulent love story with harrowing intrigue opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1942 at the Hollywood Theater in New York three weeks after the Allies landed at Casablanca. The film catapulted the beautiful Swedish actress Bergman into superstar status. The film also advanced Bogart from his former “gangster” roles to the first of many romantic leads for the popular actor. Bergman had never worked with Bogart before this film and never would again. The movie received eight Academy Award nominations including Best Actor for Bogart, and Best Supporting Actor for Rains. The film won Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. Like all Warner Bros. one sheet posters from the period of the late 30's through the late 40's, this poster is duotone. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition.
PASSAGE TO MARSEILLE (1944) 18973-1
Original Warner Bros. Title Lobby Card (11×14). Very good.
This is an original Warner Bros. Title Lobby Card (11x14) for the Michael Curtiz war drama, PASSAGE TO MARSEILLE (1944)—starring Humphrey Bogart, Claude Rains, Michele Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet, and Peter Lorre. Many people consider this film an attempt to recapture the magic of CASABLANCA (1942); indeed, both films had many of the same cast as well as the same director, screenwriter, composer, and producer. This film is also a rousing piece of war propaganda, but has Bogart playing a French journalist framed for murder because of his political beliefs. He is sent to Devil’s Island, but escapes with four comrades, who eventually wind up on a French freighter bound for home. In a great action sequence toward the end of the film, Bogart and his cohorts prevent the takeover of the ship by Nazi sympathizers. This original title card is in very good plus condition with only some minor pinholes, slight discoloration, and minor surface wear.

This is an original Universal Pictures Window Card (Trimmed 14x20.5) for the James Whale horror/sci-fi classic, THE INVISIBLE MAN (1933)—starring Claude Rains and Gloria Stuart. Considering the time in which it was made, this is one of the most amazing films of this genre with a dazzling array of special effects. As in his famous Frankenstein films, Whale also makes ample use of wicked comedy. Whale’s ability to entertain is unrivaled, which is why his films for Universal were always the studio’s biggest successes. This original window card is trimmed but still in fine condition with minor discoloration and surface wear .
