WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1939) 19644
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very fine condition.
This is an original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the William Wyler romantic drama, WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1939)—starring Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier, and David Niven. Based on the famous novel by Emily Bronte, this excellent film was nominated for 8 Academy Awards—including Best Actor for Olivier, Best Director for Wyler, and Best Picture. The film won the Oscar for Best Cinematography for Gregg Toland’s astounding work in which he perfectly captures the very essence of the bleak, chilling, haunting Yorkshire Moors. Olivier’s dark, brooding, and terribly bitter Heathcliff and Oberon’s dark and exotically beautifully Cathy give two of the very best performances of their illustrious careers. Very fine condition.
THE PINK PANTHER (1964) 9179
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very good condition.
The poster is in average used condition - good plus. Some pinholes indicates theater use for this poster. The art on the poster is by Jack Rickard, the American illustrator who did so many covers for Mad Magazine. The cast is shown in bed - where they spent most of the film - having a jolly time. Sellers appears as the inimitable fumbling Inspector Clouseau. This was Closeau's first appearance on film, but not his last. The character became one of Sellar's inconic roles, repeated in several more films for Blake Edwards. The same must be said for the cartoon character The Pink Panther, who made his animated debut in the main titles. The film is also notable for an immortal soundtrack by the great Henry Mancini. While this poster presents well as is, it is a perfect candidate for linen backing. Average used, some tape on reverse - very good condition.
BEDTIME STORY (1964) 19811
Original Universal Pictures Window Card (14×22). Very fine.
This is an original Universal Pictures Window Card (14x22) for the Ralph Levy comedy, BEDTIME STORY (1964)—starring David Niven, Marlon Brando, and Shirley Jones. This is the story of two gigolos who vie to see which of the two is better at his profession. David Niven gives one of the funniest performances of his career, and Brando also shows his great talent as a comic performer. It is clearly reminiscent of and inspired by the films of Rock Hudson and Doris Day; indeed, the film was originally written for them and Cary Grant but eventually recast with Niven, Brando, and Jones. This original window card is in very fine condition.
CASINO ROYALE (1967) 19997
Original Columbia Pictures Advance Style B One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine minus condition. Pinholes in each corner, small tears from pulled pinholes, and minor staining in the lower left corner.
Original Columbia Pictures Advance Style B One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Val Guest, Ken Hughes, John Huston, Joseph McGrath, and Robert Parrish ultimate spy spoof, CASINO ROYALE (1967)—starring Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress, and David Niven. After the death of M, Sir James Bond is called back from retirement to stop SMERSH. His ultimate plan dictates that every agent will be named Bond. Intended to be the ultimate spy spoof, it is both a satire of Bond movies and even more a satire of the “cool” and “hip” films of the late 1960s. Some critics have described it as a screwball comedy with a touch of British absurdity. This very rare style B advance one sheet poster is folded and in very fine minus condition. There are a number of pinholes in each corner, some small tears from pulled pinholes, and minor staining in the lower left corner.
