VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1967) 18502
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Fine plus.
This is an original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Mark Robson camp classic, VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1967)—starring Barbara Parkins, Patty Duke, and Sharon Tate. Based on the scandalous, best-selling novel by Jacqueline Susann, this camp classic chronicles the rise and fall of three young women in show business. Although the film was listed in John Wilson’s “The Most Amusingly Bad Movies Ever Made,” it had some good qualities—including several musical numbers with beautiful arrangements by Andre Previn and John Williams and some good performances, especially from Parkins and Duke. Jacqueline Susann was a woman of the 40’s and 50’s, and her story fits that time and not the late 60s. VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is really a big-budget movie with great production values, but based on a cheesy quasi-pulp romance totally out of sync with the period in which it is set. This original one sheet poster is in fine plus condition.
BEEN DOWN SO LONG IT LOOKS LIKE UP TO ME (1971) 2178
Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Fine plus condition.
This is an original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Jeffrey Young college life drama, BEEN DOWN SO LONG IT LOOKS LIKE UP TO ME (1971)—starring Barry Primus, David Downing, Susan Tyrrell. Based of the popular novel by Richard Farina, this film is a series of chapters in the life of a fairly unlikable young man in college in the late fifties. He experiments with drugs and free love, proceeds to party all the time, and disregards every rule. If the film had originally had better theatrical distribution or had been shown on TV more, it probably would have become a cult classic for its wonderful satire of some of the late fifties and early sixties “archetypes.” Richard Farina was an interesting character in the history of the counterculture. Charismatic in his own right he married into folksinging royalty - twice! First to Texas folksinger Carolyn Hester and then to Mimi Baez, the beautiful younger sister of Joan and Pauline Baez. Farina only wrote one novel, but recorded with his second wife as Richard and Mimi Farina for Vanguard Records. Richard Farina was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1966. This original one sheet poster is in fine plus condition.
THE FRENCH CONNECTION (1971) 1934
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Fine condition.
This is an original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the William Friedkin action thriller, THE FRENCH CONNECTION (1971)—starring Gene Hackman, Fernando Rey, and Roy Scheider. Considered shockingly violent in the early 70s but pretty tame by today’s standards, Friedkin employs a documentary style that produces a very intense, fast-paced, and hard-edged crime drama about two New York City detectives (Hackman and Scheider) looking to end the war on drugs by taking down an international conspiracy. The film was a critical and box office success; indeed, it received eight Academy Award nominations and won five Oscars—including Best Actor for Hackman, Best Director for Friedkin, Best Screenplay for Ernest Tidyman, and Best Picture. This original one sheet poster was originally folded and is in fine condition.
PLAYING GOD (1997) 19781
Original Touchstone Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Rolled. Double-sided. Very fine condition.
This is an original Touchstone Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Andy Wilson crime thriller, PLAYING GOD (1997)—starring David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton, and Angelina Jolie. Like Duchovny? Here's your poster! Dr. Eugene Sands (Duchovny) has lost his job as a surgeon because of his drug addition. But then he crosses paths with an infamous counterfeiter Raymond Blossom (Hutton), who hires Sands to take care of the gunshot wounds of his associates. The doctor is not only lured ever deeper into the criminal world, he also becomes entangled with his boss’s girlfriend (Jolie). With a smart and funny script, this film is simple and realistic with action scenes that are not over the top and with enough twists and turns to keep you interested throughout the thriller. The rolled original double-sided one sheet poster is in very fine condition.

Original Miramax Advance One Sheet Poster (27×41). Rolled. Near mint condition.
This is an original Miramax Advance One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Danny Boyle dark comedy, TRAINSPOTTING (1996)—starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, and Kevin McKidd. This British hit follows the lives of a group of drug addicts in Scotland in the late 1980’s. The film is not a conventional narrative but more a series of vignettes set to the film’s dazzling soundtrack. Besides phenomenal acting, brilliant editing, excellent music, the film boasts one of the liveliest scripts ever written. Indeed, John Hodge’s screenplay was nominated for the Oscar. This original rolled advance one sheet poster is in near mint condition.

This is an original Warner Bros. Window Card (14x22) for the Hy Averback romantic comedy, I LOVE YOU ALICE B. TOKLAS! (1968)—starring Peter Sellers, Jo Van Fleet, Leigh Taylor-Young, and Joyce Van Patten. Sellers is outstanding and hilarious as an uptight Jewish lawyer, who is engaged to be married but falls in love with a free-thinking and free-living “hippie” (Taylor-Young) and decides to “drop out” himself. The title is a tribute to Gertrude Stein's lifelong partner (Toklas) who published a cookbook in 1954 that contained the first printed recipe for marijuana-laced fudge. This original window card is in very fine condition.

FRENCH CONNECTION II (1975)
Original 20th Century Fox Presskit (9 x 11.5). Used but good condition. Stills are very fine condition.
This is an originally 20th Century Fox Presskit (9 x 11.5) for the 1975 John Frankenheimer action/thriller sequel FRENCH CONNECTION II, staring Gene Hackman, Fernando Rey, Bernard Fresson, and Cathleen Nesbitt. Hackman delivers a virtuoso performance as Poeye Doyle—the hard-nosed cop sent to Marseilles to unearth the shifty drug smuggler Alain Charnier (Rey), the man that got away in the original 1971 film. This original presskit is in used but good condition. The cover is worn and has two small tears on the right side. There are 10 different B&W studio action stills (an additional three duplicates are also included) in their original brown protective sleeve. There are also press releases of cast and production staff, a production information guide, a history of the Marseilles connection, and 17 other short items. There are also biographies of Frankenheimer, Hackman, Rey, Fresson, and Nesbitt.
THE BIG SLEEP (1946) 20006
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine to Very Fine condition with only minor surface and edge wear in the white borders.
This is an original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the 1946 Howard Hawks film-noir masterpiece, THE BIG SLEEP, starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Becall. One of the best Raymond Chandler novels brought to the big screen, it is a story of private-eye Philip Marlowe (Bogart) who is hired to keep track of General Sternwood’s youngest daughter, but in the process he falls in love with her older sister Vivian (Becall). The delightful and witty banter between Bogart and Becall is one of the high points of this film. Though first performing opposite each other in TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT (1944), this film cemented the Bogart/Bacall on-screen and off-screen love affair. This original scene lobby card with a wonderful image of the two screen icons is in fine to very fine condition with only minor surface and edge wear in the white borders.
