This is an original Paramount Pictures Style B One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Penrhyn Stanlaws silent romantic drama, AT THE END OF THE WORLD (1921)—starring Betty Compson and Milton Sills. Compson is the daughter of the English proprietor of a seedy Shanghai gambling hall, where she is the target for the romantic attentions of many of the patrons. She grows more and more cynical about love until true love and tragedy arrive simultaneously. This beautiful stone lithograph style B one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine to near mint condition.

This is an original 1956 Columbia Pictures Re-release One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Robert Rossen film-noir classic, JOHNNY O’CLOCK (1947)—starring Dick Powell, Evelyn Keyes, and Lee J. Cobb. Powell plays a casino manager and junior partner in a gambling club. Totally obsessed with personal greed and emotionally cold, Johnny feels he is powerless and caught in a web outside his control. The film has all the noir traits of hard bitten dialogue, a drunken moll, and a pervading sense of cynicism and corruption. This original re-release one sheet poster is in very fine plus condition.

This is an original United Artists Window Card (14x22) for the Frederick De Cordova musical comedy, FRANKIE AND JOHNNY (1966)—starring Elvis Presley, Donna Douglas, Harry Morgan, and Nancy Kovack. Set on a riverboat in the 1890’s, the film tells the story of Johnny (Presley) who is a riverboat entertainer with a big gambling problem. Frankie (Douglas) is his girl, but then his redheaded “lucky charm” Nellie (Kovack) comes on the scene. Besides the title song, other notable songs include “Hard Luck” and “Please Don’t Stop Loving Me.” This original window card is in fine + condition.

This is an original 20th Century Fox Six Sheet Poster (81x81) for the Robert Rossen sports drama, THE HUSTLER (1961)—starring Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, Piper Laurie, and George C. Scott. This is the depressing and grim tale of “Fast” Eddie Felson, a renegade kid out to beat the system. Yet, at every turn the cynical and cold system beats Eddie. The film won two Academy Awards and was nominated for seven more, including Best Actor for Newman, Best Supporting Actor for Gleason and George C. Scott, Best Actress for Laurie, Best Director for Rossen, and Best Screenplay. The superbly sleazy jazz score by Kenyon Hopkins further enhances this wonderful film. This original six sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.

This is an original MGM One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Clarence Brown comedy, WHEN IN ROME (1952)—starring Van Johnson, Paul Douglas, and Joseph Calleia. Douglas plays a gambler who runs afoul of the law and evades serving his time by stealing priest Johnson’s identity. Shot in 1950 in 1950 the magnificent black and white photography has many breathtaking shots of real Vatican celebrations. This film got the old fashioned MGM treatment from director Clarence Brown. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition.

Original Columbia Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the John Cromwell film-noir thriller, DEAD RECKONING (1947)—starring Humphrey Bogart, Lizabeth Scott, Morris Carnovsky, and William Prince. “Rip” Murdock (Bogart) finds himself mired in a heap of trouble when he tries to track down an old army buddy. This movie has all of the film-noir ingredients: lots of shadows and sharp contrasts, flashback narrative, a femme fatale (Scott), gambling, seedy clubs, suspicion, and mounting paranoia. The film has a wonderful surprise ending and is filled throughout with sharp, witty dialogue. This original portrait lobby card of Bogart menacing Scott is in very fine condition.
