ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA (1984) 8217
Original Warner Bros One Sheet Poster (27×41). Unfolded. Near mint.
This is an original one sheet poster (27x41) for Sergio Leone's brilliant and epic film about growing up gangster in lower Manhattan at the turn of the century, ONE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA (1984)-- starring Robert De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, and Joe Pesci. One of the great performances of Robert De Niro, the film was restored to its intended length in the DVD release after Warners cut the film to essential incoherence at its original release in 1984. The picture is almost breathtaking in scope, as it ranges in time over almost sixty years. The score by Italian master Ennio Morricone remains one of the greatest film scores of all time. Based on the novel THE HOODS by Harry Grey. The poster is rolled - that is, never folded. It is in near mint condition and perfect for framing. Difficult to find now unfolded. Single sided which is characteristic of this period.
THE GODFATHER: PART II (1974) 2272
Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Good condition, folded.
This is an original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Francis Ford Coppola epic crime drama, THE GODFATHER: PART II (1974)—starring Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and Diane Keeton. Considered by many to be one of the best movies of all time and certainly the best gangster movie of all time, this Coppola masterpiece won six academy awards including Best Picture, Best Director to Coppola, and Best Supporting Actor to Robert DeNiro, much of his dazzling performance being spoken in Italian with English subtitles. This beautifully crafted film presents two parallel storylines of the slow moral decline of Michael Corleone in late 1950’s (excellently portrayed by Al Pacino who was nominated for Best Actor) and flashbacks of the rise of Michael’s father Vito Corleone (in an Oscar-winning performance by DeNiro) from his youth in Sicily to the founding of the Corleone family in New York. The beautiful cinematography by Gordon Willis used a tint in the flashback sequences giving them a softer, richer look than the very sharp image of the contemporary story. This authentic one sheet is in theater-used good condition and has one additional fold. We recommend linen backing for this poster and we have priced it accordingly. Ask us about restorations.
BUGSY (1991) 19796
Original TriStar Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×40). Rolled. Fine plus condition.
This is an original TriStar Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x40) for the Barry Levinson crime biography, BUGSY (1991)—starring Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Harvey Keitel, and Ben Kingsley. This film is a fascinating portrait of how New York gangster Bugsy Siegel built The Sands Hotel and started a desert strip called Las Vegas on it's way to being the gambling capital of the world. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director for Levinson, Best Actor for Beatty, and Best Supporting Actor to both Keitel and Kingsley. The film has fantastic costumes, make-up, lighting, art direction, and sound. Indeed, the film won the Oscar for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. This original rolled one sheet poster is in fine plus condition with some minor distresses.
THE ROARING TWENTIES (1939) 19718
Original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Very fine plus condition.
This is an original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Raoul Walsh classic gangster thriller, THE ROARING TWENTIES (1939)—starring James Cagney, Priscilla Lane, Humphrey Bogart, and Gladys George. Bogart and Cagney meet as Doughboys in World War I in France. A few years after the war ends, Prohibition becomes law and gives birth to bootlegging. With a sensational screenplay by Mark Hellinger, solid direction from Walsh, major performances by the entire cast, and excellent production qualities—this film became one of Warner’s definitive gangster movies. Gangster films had been extremely successful for Warners in the thirties, but this film seemed to usher out the era with great style. This poster is linen-backed and in very fine plus condition.
