TRASH (1970) 6776
Original German A1 Poster (23×33). Folded. Near Mint.
This is an original German A1 Poster (23x33) for the Andy Warhol/Paul Morrissey cult classic, TRASH (1970)—starring Joe Dallesandro, Holly Woodlawn, and Jane Forth. This film was the second in the FLESH-TRASH-HEAT trilogy, and all of these films are a combination of farce and serious drama. They were called “underground” films because they portray unfiltered squalor and outrageous behavior that would have been considered “obscene” by mainstream Hollywood. Morrissey always intertwined satire and seriousness. And in this film there is a wonderful contrast between Dallesandro’s druggy torpor and the nervous energy of the “women” that revolve around him. This is the first Warhol film for transvestite Holly Woodlawn, and both she and Dallesandro make their characters surprisingly complex and even sympathetic. This original German A1 Poster is in folded, near mint condition.
KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (1985) 8209
Original Island Alive One Sheet Poster (27×41). Rolled and never folded. Very fine condition.
This is an original Island Alive One Sheet Poster for the Hector Babenco classic drama, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (1985)—starring William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sonia Braga. Luis (Hurt)—a homosexual found guilty of immoral behavior—and Valentin (Julia)—a political prisoner—are cellmates in a South American prison, and the friendship forged between the two men becomes over the course of the film real and absolute. William Hurt won the Oscar for Best Actor, but both Julia and Braga are also extraordinary. This movie was based on a novel by Manuel Puig with a screenplay by the late Leonard Schrader and produced by David Weisman. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director to Brazilian Babenco, and Best Screenplay. This unfolded original one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
THE DOOM GENERATION (1995) 16619
Original Trimark Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Originally folded. Good used condition with some slight defects.
This is an original Trimark Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Gregg Araki cult comedy classic, THE DOOM GENERATION (1995)—starring James Duval, Rose McGowan, and Johnathon Schaech. This wildly entertaining sex-murder romp is the story of two “troubled teens” (Duval and McGowan) who pick up an adolescent bi-sexual drifter (Schaech). The trio embarks on a sex and violence-filled journey through a surreal and psychotic Los Angeles. Written and directed by Asian-American Gregg Araki, this road trip to hell is deliberately trashy, satirizing decadent America’s love of consumption and surface beauty. Fueled by a soundtrack of mid-90’s alternative bands, this dark film offers a bleak but humorous look at the pop generation culture of its time. This one sheet poster was originally folded and is in good condition with some slight defects.
THE GAY BUCKAROO (1932) 5762
Original Allied Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Stone lithograph. Very fine condition.
This is an original Allied Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Phil Rosen early talking western, THE GAY BUCKAROO (1932)—starring Hoot Gibson, Roy D’Arcy, and Merna Kennedy. In this film successful horse rancher Clint Hale (Gibson) is in love with Mildred Field (Kennedy), but she also admires the crook Dave Dumont (D’Arcy) who runs the saloon and gambling hall. Ultimately, Clint forces Dave to reveal his criminal side, leading to the inevitable ride into the sunset with sweet Mildred. Gibson was a pioneer star of silent and early talking westerns and was one of the 1920’s most popular children’s matinee heroes. Originally folded, this beautiful stone lithograph one sheet poster is in very fine condition with only minor edge distresses and fold separations.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE (1962) 5886
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Very fine plus condition. Unbacked, on two panels.
This is an original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Robert Aldrich psycho-thriller, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? (1962)—starring Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Victor Buono. The film chronicles the lives of two aging screen actresses who live as virtual recluses in an old Hollywood mansion. Jane (Davis), a popular child star, "cares" for her crippled sister Blanche (Crawford), whose career in later years eclipsed that of Jane. The film was a riveting psychological study, cast with astonishing actors, and magnificently directed and photographed. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards—including Best Actress for Davis and Best Supporting Actor for Buono. Over the years, because of the real life rivalry between the two superstars and the grand guignol execution of the story, BABY JANE has become a camp classic if not a revered horror film. This original three sheet poster is in very fine plus condition. Printed on two separate panels. This is a big poster. Ask us about linen backing.
NORMAN...IS THAT YOU? (1976) 3774
Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very fine condition.
This is an original MGM One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the George Schlatter sex comedy, NORMAN…IS THAT YOU? (1976) — starring Redd Foxx, Pearl Bailey, Dennis Dugan, and Michael Warren. Foxx, who was already a big hit at the time with his successful television series “Sanford and Son,” gets a chance to deliver a host of funny one-liners when he discovers that his son (Warren) is not only gay but has a white boyfriend (Dugan). Originally folded, this one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
