THE RARE BREED (1966) 19874
Original Universal Pictures Window Card (14×22). Very fine condition.
This is an original Universal Pictures Window Card (14x22) for the Andrew V. McLaglen western, THE RARE BREED (1966)—starring James Stewart, Maureen O’Hara, Brian Keith, and Juliet Mills. Headstrong widow Martha Price (O’Hara) and her daughter (Mills) together with their prize bull travel from England to Texas to sell their bull and thus introduce Hereford cattle to the American west. Along the way, they meet a cynical and hard-bitten drifter Sam Burnett (Stewart) who helps them on their adventure. Though fictionalized, the film is a fairly accurate account of the displacement of Longhorn cattle in Texas by intentional interbreeding with more conventional bulls. This is certainly one of the original “chick flicks” as the story is told from the point of view of the female heroine (Mills). This original window card is in very fine condition.
POT O GOLD (1941) 20015
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41). Some minor flaws. Fine plus condition.
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the George Marshall musical comedy, POT O’ GOLD (1941)—starring James Stewart, Paulette Goddard, Horace Heidt, and Charles Winninger. This is the movie version of a popular radio program of the same name that featured musical routines. It is a romantic comedy told in musical form with Stewart playing one of his trademark common man personas-- who could also sing. And though audiences did not usually associate Stewart with singing, he is actually pretty good. This delightful film is meant to be funny, a little madcap, and always sweet. This original one sheet poster has some minor flaws—including edge wear, crossfold separations, pinholes, an extra crease at the vertical fold, and a small chip on the right side that has paper tape on the front and back. The overall condition is fine plus.
ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) 20018
Original RKO Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Small holes and spots in image area. Some surface paper loss on left border. Faint foxing and scuffing. Overall Very Good condition.
Original RKO Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Frank Capra dramatic masterpiece, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946)—starring James Stewart, Donna Reed, and Lionel Barrymore. This film has enduring popularity because Stewart’s character is the kind of every man we can all identify with when he confronts the “richest and meanest man in town,” demonically portrayed by Barrymore. The film received five Academy Award nominations—including Best Picture, Best Director for Capra, and Best Actor for Stewart. In this lobby card, we see Stewart confronting the despot Barrymore in a key scene. There are some small holes and spots in the image area, some surface paper loss on the left border, and faint foxing and scuffing. This original scene lobby card is overall in very good condition.
BROKEN ARROW (1950) 19351
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Fine condition.
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Delmer Daves western, BROKEN ARROW (1950)—starring James Stewart, Jeff Chandler, and Debra Paget. This wonderfully adapted screenplay from the Elliott Arnold novel “Blood Brother” tells the moving story of former army scout Tom Jeffords (Stewart) who wants to make peace with the Native Americans and stop ten years of cruel bloodshed. He bravely goes to the Apache stronghold and begins a dialogue with their chief Cochise (Chandler). He also falls in love with an Indian princess (Paget). Though most of the Native American roles were played by whites, the film is considered groundbreaking because of its portrayal of American Indians in a humane light. The film was nominated for three Oscars—Best Supporting Actor for Chandler, Best Adapted Screenplay for Albert Maltz, and Best Color Cinematography for Ernest Palmer. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine condition. One of the best designed Indian-Western posters of the 1950s.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940) 19358
Original MGM Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine plus condition. Minor tears in the top, left, and bottom corners. Blunted corners.
Original MGM Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the George Cukor classic romantic comedy, THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940)—starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. One of the greatest romantic comedies of all time, the story is set around the wedding of Philadelphia heiress Tracy Lord (Hepburn). Her ex-husband Dexter (Grant) decides to crash the event and brings along two reporters (Stewart and Hussey). After a number of disappointing films in the mid-1930s, Hepburn decided to return to Broadway and starred in the stage version of this play, which was written by playwright Phillip Barry especially for Hepburn. An unmitigated hit, Hepburn purchased the movie rights and sold them to MGM. This triumphal return to the screen in this unforgettable role instantly reignited her movie career. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director for Cukor, and Best Actress for Hepburn. The film won the Oscars for Best Screenplay to Donald Ogden Stewart and Best Supporting Actor to Stewart. This original scene card is in fine plus condition—with only some minor tears in the top, left, and bottom corners as well as blunted corners.

Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Andrew V. McLaglen romantic western, BANDOLERO! (1968)—starring James Stewart, Dean Martin, Raquel Welch, and George Kennedy. Original Paramount Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Alfred Hitchcock crime thriller, REAR WINDOW (1954)—starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter, and Raymond Burr. Considered by many critics to be one of Hitchcock’s masterpieces, this film tells the story of a wheelchair bound photographer (Stewart), who spies on his neighbors from his apartment window and becomes convinced that one of them has committed murder. The film focuses on the seduction of crime, not in committing it but in the act of discovering it. The entire movie was shot on one set, the largest indoor set ever built at Paramount studios at the time. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. This original three sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition. In fact, you could not hope to find a three sheet in better condition than this one!

ROPE (1948) 20190
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine condition.
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller, ROPE (1948)—starring James Stewart, Joan Chandler, John Dall, and Farley Granger. Brandon (Dall) and Phillip (Granger) strangle their “inferior” classmate, hide his body in their apartment, and invite his friends and family to a dinner party. As the evening wears on, Brandon becomes ever bolder, while Phillip begins to regret what they have done. The plot is simple, the characters complex, and Hitchcock’s treatment of the Leopold and Loeb parallel quite deft. This original scene lobby card is in fine condition-- with numerous pinholes, some surface wear, and minor staining.
VERTIGO (1958) 20197
Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Fine plus condition.
Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller masterpiece, VERTIGO (1958)—starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes. This Hitchcock classic tells the story of a former San Francisco detective (Stewart) suffering from acrophobia who investigates the strange activities of an old friend’s wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her. Hitchcock creates some of his most hypnotic scenes in this film as well as a general sense of unease and dread-- even in seemingly banal situations. Bernard Herrmann’s excellent score is a perfect compliment to this complex and suspenseful story. The score is perhaps more important here than it most films, because much of the story is told simply with Stewart’s and Novak’s facial expressions and the music. Stewart gives one of the best performances of his career, and Novak is completely convincing in her dual roles. This original scene lobby card is in fine plus condition, with only some minor smudging and staining in the borders.

THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1956) 3264
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
Original Universal Pictures 1983 Re-Release One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Alfred Hitchcock mystery thriller, THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1956)—starring James Stewart, Doris Day, Brenda De Banzie, and Bernard Miles. Hitchcock had already made this story in a British film in 1934. It chronicles a family vacationing in Morocco who accidentally stumbles on to an assassination plot. But, the conspirators are determined to prevent the family from interfering. The only Oscar the film won was for the Best Original Song, “Que Sera, Sera” which was sung by Doris Day, who at first refused to record the song, dismissing it as “a forgettable children’s song.” When she did finally record the song, it became the biggest hit of her recording career and her signature song. This original re-release one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940) 16413 1955R
Original MGM 1955 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22×28). Folded. Good plus condition.
Original MGM 1955 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22x28) for the George Cukor classic romantic comedy, THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940)—starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. Katherine Hepburn had been famously labeled "box office poison" by the exhibitors after several of her films in the late thirties had turned out huge flops. But the right property, the right cast and the right director combined to make THE PHILADELPHIA STORY her "comeback" vehicle. Not that she had ever really gone away. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY had been a popular play on Broadway, and Hepburn was prescient enough to buy the film rights for herself. It actually plays more like a film from the previous decade than the forties -- witty, elegant, democratic, disdainful of pomposity. This re-release half sheet from 1955 needs some small amount of work, but is available for a fraction of the price of any 1940 poster. And the graphic is great with good images of the three main players. The poster is folded. Good plus condition. Has some marker on the reverse side which has bled lightly to the front. This can be fixed. We recommend paper-backing for this poster. MovieArt can help you with suggestions for restoration.

DeMille toured the Midwest for two months with the Ringling Bros. circus—collecting anecdotes, slang, and behind-the-scenes ideas. The popular movie was nominated for five Academy Awards and won two, including Best Picture. This original Pressbook also includes two Paramount Merchandising Manuals, an original herald, and the Paramount Pressbook Supplement. The Pressbook and supplemental materials are in fine condition.
