Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is an original Columbia Pictures Lobby Card (11x14) for the hallmark political drama, ALL THE KING’S MEN (1949)—starring Broderick Crawford, John Ireland, Joanne Dru, and Mercedes McCambridge. The film was produced, directed, and written by Robert Rossen based on a novel by Robert Penn Warren about the colorful life of Louisiana’s infamous governor Huey Long. Crawford plays Willie Stark, the character based on Long, who dreams of becoming a political populist. When he finally wins the governorship, he tries to do all the good things he promised. But alas, his administration is based on bribes, payoffs, and intimidation from a private army of police and paid thugs. Crawford’s lust for power is finally brought to an end when he is assassinated in the foyer of the state capitol. This grim tale was a breakout role for Crawford who won the Academy Award for Best Actor. McCambridge, in her debut playing Crawford’s equally callous and conniving aid, also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Original Universal Pictures Half Sheet Poster (22×28).  Fine plus condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Original Universal Pictures Half Sheet Poster (22x28) for the Joseph Pevney musical comedy, TAMMY AND THE BACHELOR (1957)—starring Debbie Reynolds, Leslie Nielsen, Walter Brennan, and Mala Powers. Debbie Reynolds was an amazing MGM contract player who had appeared in many films, and this film, which she made at Universal was initially a flop until the title song was released as a record and climbed the pop charts, winning Reynolds a gold record. Universal put the movie out again, after the song's success, and the movie was as responsible as any film for mid-century America's love affair with Debbie. Leslie Nielsen is the guy who falls for the lovely Louisiana lass. Walter Brennan plays himself. Ross Hunter was the producer. Later he would gain renown as the producer of PILLOW TALK and other Universal Pictures sex comedies. This original half sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition-- with some minor edge distresses, pinholes, and fold separations.
