Considered by most critics to be one of the greatest films of all time, the film captures some of the most hidden and guarded secrets of the underground world. The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards—including Best Director for Coppola, Best Music for Nino Rota, and Best Supporting Actor to Pacino, Caan, and Duvall. The film won the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor to Brando, and Best Screenplay to Mario Puzo and Coppola. Originally folded, this British one sheet is in near mint condition. THE FUGITIVE KIND (1960) 8432
Original United Artists Window Card (14×22). Very fine plus condition.
This is an original United Artists Window Card (14x22) for the Sidney Lumet romantic drama, THE FUGITIVE KIND (1960)—starring Marlon Brando, Anna Magnani, and Joanne Woodward. Adapted by Tennessee Williams from his play “Orpheus Descending,” this is the story of drifter Val Xavier (Brando) who starts an affair with an older woman, Lady Torrance (Magnani). With handsome magnetism, Brando seductively mixes his character’s predatory arrogance with flashes of sweet tenderness. Williams wrote compelling dialogue about themes - ruined love, weakness, sex, betrayal, vengeance, and seething hatreds - that seemed shocking for the time. This original window card is in very fine plus condition. An imprint for a Lousiana theater date is seen at the top of the card.
BEDTIME STORY (1964) 19811
Original Universal Pictures Window Card (14×22). Very fine.
This is an original Universal Pictures Window Card (14x22) for the Ralph Levy comedy, BEDTIME STORY (1964)—starring David Niven, Marlon Brando, and Shirley Jones. This is the story of two gigolos who vie to see which of the two is better at his profession. David Niven gives one of the funniest performances of his career, and Brando also shows his great talent as a comic performer. It is clearly reminiscent of and inspired by the films of Rock Hudson and Doris Day; indeed, the film was originally written for them and Cary Grant but eventually recast with Niven, Brando, and Jones. This original window card is in very fine condition.
A COUNTESS FROM HONG KONG (1967) 2289
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very fine condition.
This is an original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Charles Chaplin romantic comedy, A COUNTESS FROM HONG KONG (1967)—starring Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren. This last picture from Chaplin deals with a Russian countess (Loren) who stows away on a luxury liner in Hong Kong determined to seek a new life in America. When she hides in the cabin of a millionaire diplomat (Brando), an endless stream of misunderstandings and complications ensue. Though some critics claim that Brando was miscast, he also exhibits great comic timing in the many madcap farce scenes. This original one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
