TRADER TOM OF THE CHINA SEAS (1954) 9768
Original Republic Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Very fine condition.
This is an original Republic Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Franklin Adreon 12-chapter action adventure serial, TRADER TOM OF THE CHINA SEAS (1954). This serial is typical of the Republic serials of the 1950s - adventurous, cliffhanging, episodic. This poster features the almost-pulp art which typifies the Republic style. Starring b-picture actors Aline Towne and Harry Lauter, the plot is thin. These two are sent to the far east by the United Nations no less to stifle revolution and engage in general heroics, which they do over the span of 12 serial chapters. Forget the narrative and focus on this very colorful poster, unmistakably successful in capturing the zeitgeist of the serial. This original three sheet poster is in very fine condition.

The Medford feature is the pilot of the TV series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” re-edited and released to theaters as a feature film. The Newland film is made from two episodes of the first season of “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” in which Thrush captures Napoleon Solo (Vaughn) and replaces him with a look-alike to infiltrate the spy agency. THUNDERBALL (1965) 19495
Original United Artists 24 sheet (9×20 feet). Very fine to near mint condition.
Perhaps the most outrageous James Bond poster around as well as the largest. THUNDERBALL (1965) was the first really widescreen Bond movie, and the film demonstrably took the effects and sweep of the films to center stage. From this point forward James Bond movies would be above all LARGE. I regard it as the first of the Big Bond movies. Since so much of it happens underwater, how better to display the big guy other than in his S.C.U.B.A gear? Move over, Esther Williams, the name is Bond - James Bond. Here is a poster on the such a scale that even Emilio Largo would be envious. The twenty four sheet is printed on multiple panels which must be joined for display. This example was never used and exists in remarkable shape.

The film boasts great casting, gripping dialogue, breathtaking stunt work, outstanding cinematography, and very precise editing—especially of the gunfight scenes. Hattie McDaniel: Black Ambition, White Hollywood
Hattie McDaniel is best known for her performance as Mammy, the sassy foil to Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind. Her powerful performance would [...]
