Morse Japanese monster classic, GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS (1956)—starring Raymond Burr, Takashi Shimura, and Akira Takarada. This is an Americanized re-edited version of Honda's original Japanese film, GOJIRA (1954), which was the first of the "Japanese monster" films that also included such beasts as Gammera, Rodan, and Mothra. American reporter Steve Martin (Burr) investigates a series of mysterious disasters off the coast of Japan and discovers Godzilla-- a 400 ft. dinosaur-like beast who has awakened from his hibernation by the testing of atomic bombs. The original Japanese version has many more cautions about the dangers of nuclear testing and nuclear war. At night Godzilla goes on rampages in Tokyo, leaving death and destruction everywhere. Only the ultimate weapon, which can destroy all life in Tokyo Bay, can save the city. This original one sheet poster is linen-baked and in very good condition.
