INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1956) 16346
Original Allied Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Near Mint.
This is an original Allied Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for Don Siegel’s quintessential 1950’s sci-fi classic, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1956)—starring Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter, and King Donovan. This masterful film is the story of a small-town doctor who learns that all the townspeople are slowly being replaced by emotionless alien duplicates. At first, he thinks that there is some kind of “mass hysteria” overtaking his community where friends and loved-ones are described as “not themselves” – literally. Indeed, the aliens come to earth in the form of “seed pods” and complete the transformation when the unsuspecting humans fall asleep. This film is one of the American Film Institute’s top 10 Sci-fi movies of all time. Director Siegel creates an intense sense of claustrophobia and paranoia, which if further amplified by the excellent musical score by Carmen Dragon. The acting is superb, and the chemistry between Kevin McCarthy and the lovely Dana Wynter seems very real and believable. There are few such subtle and cerebral sci-fi horror films made, and this film is simply one of the very best. This original one sheet poster is in near mint condition. There is minimal touch-up at the fold lines.
CABARET (1972) 7242
Original Allied Artists 1974 Re-release 40×60 Poster. Very fine condition.
This is an original Allied Artists 1974 Reissued 40x60 Poster for the Bob Fosse classic musical romance, CABARET (1972)—starring Liza Minnelli, Michael York, Helmut Griem, and Joel Grey. Based on the Christopher Isherwood story, “A Goodbye to Berlin,” this film tells the story of American entertainer Sally Bowles who comes to decadent Berlin of the early 1930s and goes to work at The Kit-Kat Club. She is the same kind of character as Marlene Dietrich’s famous archetype in “The Blue Angel”—a heartless vamp who drives men crazy and then throws them away like toys. The film works wonderfully on a historical level, on a personal story level, as well as on a purely entertainment level. Fosse recreates in living detail the grotesque sleaze of Berlin’s lowlife during the rise of Nazism. Nominated for ten Academy Awards including Best Picture, it won eight Oscars including Best Director to Fosse, Best Actress to Minnelli, and Best Supporting Actor to Grey. This original reissued 40x60 poster is in very fine condition.

Hattie McDaniel: Black Ambition, White Hollywood
Hattie McDaniel is best known for her performance as Mammy, the sassy foil to Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind. Though the role called for yet another wide–grinned, subservient black domestic, McDaniel transformed her character into one who was loyal yet subversive, devoted yet bossy. Her powerful performance would [...]
