GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES (1953) 14186
Original 20th Century Fox Six Sheet Poster (81×81). Linen-backed. Near mint condition.
This is an original 20th Century Fox Six Sheet Poster (81x81) for the popular Howard Hawks musical comedy, GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES—starring Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe. This film was flashy, funny, warm, and opulent with Russell and Monroe performing great song and dance routines in sometimes lavish and outrageous costumes. Monroe’s legendary “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” is more captivating than any of the numerous parodies and tributes made afterwards. Marilyn Monroe was never more adorable and innocent than her persona in this film. Russell also turns in a marvelously comic performance and manages to project a warm sense of sisterhood in her scenes with Monroe. Remember, POSTERS are a boy's best friend. And what boy, age six or sixty wouldn't want these two larger than life stars in their home theater. This original six sheet poster is linen-backed and in near mint condition.

Ron Silver plays her neurotic son who sacrifices everything to give his mother her dying wish. The uncredited Betty Comden plays the elusive Garbo. This original one sheet poster with Michael Sporn artwork is in near mint condition with only some very minor edgewear.

Original Italian Four Fogli Poster (55x78) for the William Wyler musical comedy, FUNNY GIRL (1968)—starring Barbra Steisand, Omar Sharif, and Kay Medford. This is the biography of comedienne Fannie Brice, from her early days in the Jewish tenements of the Lower East Side of New York, to the height of her career with the Ziegfeld Follies. The original Broadway production opened at the Winter Garden Theater on March 26, 1964 and was nominated for the 1964 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Score. The film was 26-year-old Streisand’s feature film debut, directed by the great William Wyler, and it became the highest grossing film of 1968. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Musical Score, and Best Original Song. Streisand shared the Oscar for Best Actress with Katharine Hepburn, one of the few times in the Oscar's history that nominees tied for the award. Hepburn won her Oscar for THE LION IN WINTER. This poster is printed on two panels. The poster is unbacked, both panels are folded but are in very fine condition. Prettier by far the any of the American posters. While the credits are in Italian, Columbia kept the English title for the Italian release.

Set on a riverboat in the 1890’s, the film tells the story of Johnny (Presley) who is a riverboat entertainer with a big gambling problem. Frankie (Douglas) is his girl, but then his redheaded “lucky charm” Nellie (Kovack) comes on the scene. Martinson teen comedy, FOR THOSE WHO THINK YOUNG (1964)—starring James Darren, Pamela Tiffin, Paul Lynde, Tina Louise, Bob Denver, Nancy Sinatra, and Woody Woodbury. One of the many attempts by the big studios to cash in on the success of the “beach party” movies, this film chronicles a bunch of college surfers who hang out at a club watching Uncle Woody and drinking Pepsis. This original three sheet poster is folded and in good condition.
FOOTLIGHT PARADE (1933) 2631
Original Warner Bros. Lobby Card (11×14). Fine condition with only minor pinholes and missing chip in upper border.
This is an original Warner Bros. Lobby Card (11x14) for the Lloyd Bacon musical comedy, FOOTLIGHT PARADE (1933)—starring James Cagney, Joan Blondell, Ruby Keeler, and Dick Powell. Cagney plays Chester Kent, a producer of “prologues” or short musical stage productions that were presented in movie theaters before the features. Busby Berkeley choreographed all of the elaborate dance numbers, which were all shot with only one camera. With a snappy script and an all-star cast, this film is one of the best of the 1930’s musical comedy extravaganzas. This original scene card is for the number “By a Waterfall,” which features “pre-code” scantily clad beauties in some astonishing kaleidoscopic choreography. This scene card is in fine condition with only some minor pinholes and a small missing chip in the upper border.
FOOLS FOR SCANDAL (1938) 15914
Original Warner Bros. Trimmed Window Card (13×16). Trimmed. Good condition. This rare window card should be purchased with the intent to have it restored.
This is an original Warner Bros. Window Card (14x22) for the Mervyn LeRoy and Bobby Connolly romantic comedy, FOOLS FOR SCANDAL (1938)-- starring Carole Lombard, Fernand Gravet, and Ralph Bellamy. This endearing, lighthearted screwball comedy was not a box office success because of the negative publicity surrounding the affair between Lombard and Clark Gable. Because Gable was already married, Lombard was regarded as a "home wrecker." This original window card has been trimmed (13X16) and is in good but not fine condition. Restoration is recommended; MovieArt can arrange for restoration.
