The film featured the incredible music and lyrics of Frederick Loewe and Alan J. Lerner. The film was directed by Joshua Logan. This 40x60 offers the Bob Peak art that was used only for roadshow posters in the original campaign of 1967. This was the art that was used for the soundtrack record cover also. Original release posters for CAMELOT with this art are very scarce, and this re-release poster is almost identical to the original except for the tag line at the top of the poster. This poster is rolled - never folded - and has some modest signs of wear as it was a theater-used poster. MovieArt will sell NO reproductions. Lovely of Redgrave.

CALAMITY JANE (1953) 6674

Original Belgium Poster (14×18).  Fine plus condition due to being trimmed slightly.  Otherwise very fine.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
Original Belgium Poster (14x18) for the David Butler musical western, CALAMITY JANE (1953)—starring Doris Day and Howard Keel. In the early 1950s, Hollywood had to find a way to draw audiences who were staying at home and watching TV back to the theaters, and films like CALAMITY JANE were designed to do just that. It is the biography of Indian scout Calamity Jane (Day), a butch cowgirl who gets a feminine makeover and snares her shooting buddy Wild Bill Hickok (Keel). This film is certainly one of the most successful combinations of comedy, musical, and western. It has many catchy songs sung by one of the greatest singing talents of the time, Doris Day. It was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Original Song “Secret Love.” Calamity Jane is perhaps the most beloved of all Doris Day films by her legions of fans. There are two original Belgian posters; this is the red style. Trimmed at the top, but not into the image. Scarce.

BYE BYE BIRDIE (1963) 2290

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41).  Fine plus condition.

Additional DescriptionMore Details
This is a one sheet for the Columbia PIctures musical BYE BYE BIRDIE starring Janet Leigh, Dick VanDyke and Ann-Margret. The film was directed by George Sidney. It had been a successful Broadway Musical with Van Dyke and Chita Rivera. The Broadway show was originally conceived as a musical called LET'S GO STEADY and was essentially a satire on American Life in the fifties. The film kept the basic plot, but adopted a someone lighter tone. It's about a rocker who comes to a small town in Ohio to make a farewell appearance on television before he is drafted into the Army. If all this sounds a bit like Elvis, that is no surprise. The rocker character is played in the film by Jesse Pearson. Ed Sullivan played himself in a cameo appearance. This was the film that made Ann Margret a real star and paved the way for her to appear with the Real Birdie, Elvis Presley in a now iconic film VIVA LAS VEGAS. This original one sheet poster is in fine plus condition. Fans of MAD MEN will recognize BYE BYE BIRDIE as the film the guys at Sterling Cooper cribbed for a commercial for Patio Cola.
