THIS IS MY AFFAIR (1937) 767
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Stone lithograph. Linen-backed. Near mint.
This is an original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the William A. Seiter romantic crime drama, THIS IS MY AFFAIR (1937)—starring Robert Taylor, Barbara Stanwyck and Victor McLaglen. Set at the turn of the century, Taylor plays a young naval officer who is given a secret mission by President William McKinley to uncover a ring of bank robbers. Taylor infiltrates the gang but falls in love with their female mascot and saloon singer Stanwyck in the process. Besides McKinley, there are actors also playing Teddy Roosevelt and Admiral Dewey. This original one sheet poster is in near mint condition. A truly beautiful example of the stone lithographer's art.
THINK FAST, MR. MOTO (1937) 19495
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Fine plus condition with some restoration repairing minor tears and missing chips. Poster presents beautifully.
This is an original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Norman Foster mystery thriller, THINK FAST, MR. MOTO (1937)—starring Peter Lorre, Virginia Field, Thomas Beck, and Sig Ruman. This was the first of eight films that Lorre—a Hungarian Jew fresh out of Hitler’s Germany-- did for Fox in which he portrayed the Japanese detective Mr. Moto based on the novels of John Marquand. These eight films established Lorre as one of Hollywood’s most beloved personalities. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition with some restoration repairing minor tears and missing chips. There are minor stresses at the fold lines; otherwise, the poster presents beautifully.
THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT (1940) 19643
Original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27×41). Linen-backed. Very fine condition.
This is an original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Raoul Walsh film-noir crime drama, THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT (1940)—starring George Raft, Ann Sheridan, Ida Lupino, and Humphrey Bogart. Raft and Bogart are small-time truck drivers. Sheridan is a wise cracking waitress, and Lupino plays the vicious, scorned woman. This film was popular with audiences not because of the story so much as the forceful performances by all the main actors and the excellent direction by Walsh. The most memorable moment in the film is the trial sequence in which Lupino disintegrates into hysterics on the witness stand. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.
THE WRONG MAN (1956) 20198
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11×14). Very good condition.
Original Warner Bros. Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock crime drama, THE WRONG MAN (1956)—starring Henry Fonda, Vera Miles, Anthony Quayle, and Harold J. Stone. This film tells the true story of Manny Balestrero (Fonda), a club musician unjustly accused of an armed robbery. Though Manny vehemently protest his innocence, his actions at every turn seem to belie his guilt. Instead of the usual Hitchcock cameo appearance, the director narrates the prologue, the only time he actually spoke in any of his films. Fonda gives an excellent performance of the quietly stunned Manny who slowly descends into total helplessness and powerlessness as he wends his way through the criminal justice system. This original scene card is in very good condition, with only minor edge wear and some pinholes.
THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (1955) 20196
Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11X14). Very good condition.
This is an original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Alfred Hitchcock comedy thriller, THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (1955)—starring Edmund Gwenn, Mildred Natwick, John Forsythe, and Shirley MacLaine in her first screen roll. While many Hitchcock films had humor in them, this was full-fledged black comedy, which was mostly a subtle satire of 50s morality and conformity. The acting performances are superb and are the most delightful aspect of the film-- as there are no expected Hitchcock action sequences, like a spectacular climax on a national monument or bathtub murders. This scene card is in very good condition, with only minor scuffing and numerous pinholes in the corners. Look for a performance by Jerry Mathers, before he became TV's Beaver!
THE TRAITOR WITHIN (1942) 8920
Original Republic Pictures Title Lobby Card (11×14). Fine condition.
Original Republic Pictures Title Lobby Card (11x14) for the Frank McDonald crime drama, THE TRAITOR WITHIN (1942)—starring Don “Red” Barry, Jean Parker, and George Cleveland. This original title card is in fine plus condition, with only some tape on the back side, minor smudging, and edge wear. There is a bit of paper tape on the reverse side, which can be easily removed.
THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (1968) 18501
Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very fine.
This is an original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Norman Jewison sexy caper movie, THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (1968)—starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Suave and adventuresome bank executive McQueen believes he has pulled off the perfect multi-million dollar heist, only to match wits with a sexy insurance investigator Dunaway, who will stop at nothing to get her man. The film is well-crafted, beautifully photographed, brilliantly directed, and blessed with an Academy Award nominated score by Michel Legrand. This original one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
THE SUN SETS AT DAWN (1950) 5492
Original Holiday FIlms Three Sheet Poster (41×81). Fine plus condition.
Original Holiday Films Three Sheet Poster for Paul Sloane film-noir, THE SUN SETS AT DAWN (1950)-- starring Sally Parr and Philip Shawn. A young man is scheduled for execution, but protests his innocence. No one believes him except his girlfriend. An extremely dull picture but with a very movie-postery looking poster. Printed on two panels. Fine plus condition. Good color.
