Her slow process of realization is carefully developed with the ever-building suspense. Originally issued folded, this one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
THE PLEASURE SEEKERS (1965) 5451
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Fine plus condition.
Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Jean Negulesco musical comedy, THE PLEASURE SEEKERS (1965)—starring Ann-Margret, Anthony Franciosa, Carol Lynley, and Pamela Tiffin. This is the story of three American beauties (Ann-Margret, Lynley, and Tiffin) who room together in Madrid and manage to all get themselves into unhappy relationships. This film belongs to a long tradition of movies with three single women in the leads seeking a husband. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition, with some minor fold separations.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940) 16413 1955R
Original MGM 1955 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22×28). Folded. Good plus condition.
Original MGM 1955 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22x28) for the George Cukor classic romantic comedy, THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940)—starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Ruth Hussey. Katherine Hepburn had been famously labeled "box office poison" by the exhibitors after several of her films in the late thirties had turned out huge flops. But the right property, the right cast and the right director combined to make THE PHILADELPHIA STORY her "comeback" vehicle. Not that she had ever really gone away. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY had been a popular play on Broadway, and Hepburn was prescient enough to buy the film rights for herself. It actually plays more like a film from the previous decade than the forties -- witty, elegant, democratic, disdainful of pomposity. This re-release half sheet from 1955 needs some small amount of work, but is available for a fraction of the price of any 1940 poster. And the graphic is great with good images of the three main players. The poster is folded. Good plus condition. Has some marker on the reverse side which has bled lightly to the front. This can be fixed. We recommend paper-backing for this poster. MovieArt can help you with suggestions for restoration.
THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES (1976) 6541
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41×81). One-piece International poster. Very fine condition, folded.
Original Warner Bros. Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Clint Eastwood western thriller, THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES (1976)—starring Eastwood, Chief Dan George, Sondra Locke, Bill McKinney, and John Vernon. Josey Wales (Eastwood) is a peaceful farmer in the days near the end of the civil war. But after his home is destroyed and his family murdered by vigilantes, he becomes a man obsessed with revenge. He joins a band of rebel guerilla fighters who continue to fight the union even after the official surrender by the Confederacy. Eastwood has related in several interviews that this film is his personal favorite. And though the plot takes many twists and turns, every twist is a natural consequence of the situations and the characters. This three sheet is printed on one continuous sheet and is slightly smaller than the standard three sheet. Very fine condition.
THE OUTLAW (1943) 16412
Original United International Productions Re-release (c1960) Half Sheet Poster (22×28). Folded. Fine plus condition.
Original United International Productions late fifties or early sixties Re-release Half Sheet (22x28) for the Howard Hughes sex-western, THE OUTLAW (1943)--starring Jane Russell, Jack Buetel, Thomas Mitchell, and Walter Huston. Howard Hawks started as director but quit after two weeks. Howard Hughes then took over himself as director. Though the film was finished in February 1941, it was not shown theatrically for another two years, mostly because of censorship problems, which required cuts and revisions. It was finally released in February 1943, but censorship hassles caused Hughes to shelve it again until 1946. Even then, the owner of the theater in San Francisco was arrested for showing a film “offensive to decency.” Original posters for THE OUTLAW can cost a lot, but this garish reissue poster gives you the basic Russell in all her Rustic Glory. Buetel plays a pretty boy Billy the Kid. The poster is in fine plus condition.
THE OMEN (1976) 12327
Original 20th Century Fox Style F Insert Poster (14×36). Folded. Very good condition.
Original 20th Century Fox Style F Insert Poster (14x36) for the Richard Donner horror classic, THE OMEN (1976)—starring Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, David Warner, and Harvey Stephens. Certainly one of the best horror movies of all time, this film tells the story of an American ambassador (Peck) who discovers that his son is the literal Anti-Christ. Remick is perfect for the part of the mother who slowly comes to realize that something is wrong with her son. Gregory Peck easily portrays the noble and principled father. One of the best aspects of the film is the incredible musical score of Jerry Goldsmith, for which he won the Academy Award. It is wonderfully gloomy, disturbing, chilling music interlaced with choirs portending the end of the world. This original style F insert poster is folded and in very good condition, with some minor fold distresses and flaws.
THE OLD MAID (1939) 19861
Original Warner Bros. Title Lobby Card (11×14). Signed by Bette Davis. Good condition only.
Original Warner Bros. Title Lobby Card (11x14) for the Edmund Golding drama, THE OLD MAID (1939)—starring Bette Davis, Miriam Hopkins, George Brent, and Donald Crisp. Based on the novel by Edith Wharton, this film is one of the great Bette Davis classics. Davis gives one of her finest performances as the prim and proper Charlotte, who years before was left pregnant and alone when her suitor (Brent) was killed in the Civil War. With beautiful cinematography by Tony Gaudio, a lush score by Max Steiner, and excellent performances all around—this film was certainly one of the most highly charged dramas of its day. This original linen-finish title card is good only—with torn corners, scuffing, and numerous pinholes. The card is signed by Bette Davis.
THE NUNS STORY (1959) 5695
Original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very fine condition.
This is an original Warner Bros. One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Fred Zinnemann excellent drama, THE NUN’S STORY (1959)—starring Audrey Hepburn, Peter Finch, and Edith Evans. This beautiful and sensitive film follows a young Belgian nun (Hepburn) from her initial entry into the order in 1930 until the occupation of Belgium by the Nazis in 1940. It details the rigors of apprenticeship, through nursing school, to a hospital in the Belgian Congo, and back to Belgium just prior to the outbreak of the Second World War. Considered by many critics to be Hepburn’s best performance, she did indeed receive a Best Actress nomination. The film also received seven other Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. This original one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
