TRASH (1970) 6776
Original German A1 Poster (23×33). Folded. Near Mint.
This is an original German A1 Poster (23x33) for the Andy Warhol/Paul Morrissey cult classic, TRASH (1970)—starring Joe Dallesandro, Holly Woodlawn, and Jane Forth. This film was the second in the FLESH-TRASH-HEAT trilogy, and all of these films are a combination of farce and serious drama. They were called “underground” films because they portray unfiltered squalor and outrageous behavior that would have been considered “obscene” by mainstream Hollywood. Morrissey always intertwined satire and seriousness. And in this film there is a wonderful contrast between Dallesandro’s druggy torpor and the nervous energy of the “women” that revolve around him. This is the first Warhol film for transvestite Holly Woodlawn, and both she and Dallesandro make their characters surprisingly complex and even sympathetic. This original German A1 Poster is in folded, near mint condition.
THE SECRET OF BLOOD ISLAND (1965) 3332
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Quentin Lawrence war drama, THE SECRET OF BLOOD ISLAND (1964)—starring Jack Hedley, Barbara Shelley, and Patrick Wymark. This film chronicles the horrors that befall a group of British prisoners of war by their sadistic Japanese captors. This original one sheet is folded and in very fine condition.
THE NIGHT THEY ROBBED BIG BERTHAS (1975) 2975
Original Scotia American One Sheet Poster (27×41). Fine condition.
This is an original Scotia American One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Peter Kares comedy, THE NIGHT THEY ROBBED BIG BERTHA’S (1975)—starring Hetty Galen, Robert Nichols, and Doug Hale. Big Bertha (Galen) is the full-figured owner of the community’s most successful brothel and moonshine enterprise. When some bumbling hicks decide to rob the place, the slapstick shenanigans begin. The film boasts good performances from all major characters and good production values overall. This original one sheet poster is in fine condition. Good example of 70s soft exploitation. Art by Cardi.
THE BIG DOLL HOUSE (1971) 10482
Original New World Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very good condition.
This is an original New World Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Jack Hill exploitation drama, THE BIG DOLL HOUSE (1971)—starring Judith M. Brown, Roberta Collins, and Pam Grier. This film was one of the most interesting and certainly one of the most influential of the “women-in-prison” genre. It certainly has enough exploitation—including random drug use, sadistic torture, sexual antics, gunfights, catfights, and mud wrestling. But besides the exploitation, the strength and determination of the women is also represented. Despite its meager budget, the film has surprisingly solid production qualities, including a saucy score by Hall Daniels and excellent camera work with an exacting eye for detail. THE BIG DOLL HOUSE also kicked off the short lived but legendary “made-in-the-Philippines-but-set-in-some-nameless-Banana-Republic” cycle. This original one sheet poster is in fine condition. The poster is slightly trimmed in the border area.
SUPERVAN (1977) 3038
Original New World Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41). Fine plus condition.
This is an original New World Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Lamar Card action comedy, SUPERVAN (1977)—starring Mark Schneider, Katie Saylor, and Morgan Woodward. This film is like a 70s' time capsule made on a modest budget about a spacey solar-powered futuristic “supervan” equipped with lasers. Complete with a totally gratuitous wet t-shirt contest, this film boasts a soundtrack of the period's soft rock songs about vans and “van culture.” The high point of the film is when German American writer Charles Bukowski wanders drunkenly through a party scene wearing a t-shirt that says “Water Boy for the Wet T-shirt Contest.” This is a folded one sheet in fine plus condition. Minor wear.
SHAFT (1971) 20200
Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Very fine condition.
Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Gordon Parks crime thriller, SHAFT (1971)—starring Richard Roundtree, Moses Gunn, Charles Cioffi, and Christopher St. John. This film broke the mold of Hollywood African-American stereotypes by making the leading man a cool black private detective who is hired by a crime lord to retrieve his kidnapped daughter. In 1971 MGM was facing bankruptcy and thought that SHAFT might make a lot of money for the studio, and they were right. The film became one of the highest grossing movies of 1971 and opened the floodgates to a black exploitation renaissance of the 1970s. Isaac Hayes won the Oscar for the Best Original Song for his “Theme from Shaft.” This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
ROCK BABY: ROCK IT (1957) 2577
Original United Pictures Complete Lobby Card Set (11×14). Near mint condition.
This is an original United Pictures Complete Lobby Card Set (11x14) for the Murray Douglas Sporup crime musical, ROCK BABY: ROCK IT (1957)—starring an array of local Dallas, Texas musical acts of the late 1950’s. The faint whiff of a plot has a bunch of middle-aged “square” mobsters trying to take over teen nightspot. The resourceful kids decide to hold an impromptu benefit concert to raise enough money to save their beloved hangout. But the plot exists solely as a flimsy excuse to showcase a bunch of hot local musical acts. This film is certainly one of the grubbier of the cheap “rocksploitation” movies churned out in the 1950’s. But if you can get beyond the cheap sets and hopelessly stiff acting, the sincerity and eagerness of the performers makes the overall shoddiness both forgivable and strangely endearing. These lobby cards evoke the rockabilly era as well as any film posters that we know. This original complete lobby card set is in near mint condition.
NAUGHTY NEW ORLEANS (1954) 4151
Original Rebel Pictures Style “B” One Sheet Poster (27×41). Very good condition.
Original Rebel Pictures Style "B" One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Sidney Baldwin sexploitation classic, NAUGHTY NEW ORLEANS (1954)-- starring Bob Carey, Jean Carroll, and Collette D'Ray. The story involves a young woman who works as a stripper in a New Orleans nightclub. Her gangster boyfriend knows nothing about it, until one night he happens to wander into the club and sees her. The raunch and rollicking fun of the French Quarter is exploited in this classic sheet from the fifties. This is one of several styles of one sheets produced for this grindhouse classic. While the condition is not the best, this poster can be easily restored. We have arbitrarily called this style "B". Theater used. Very good condition only - with three chips out of the border area. This poster can be easily restored.

Hattie McDaniel: Black Ambition, White Hollywood
Hattie McDaniel is best known for her performance as Mammy, the sassy foil to Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind.
