This is an original 20th Century Fox style A One Sheet Poster (27×41). Folded. Minor fold separation at the intersection. Otherwise, very fine condition.
No plot synopsis is necessary! One of the most reproduced one sheets on the planet, the buyer seeking a real STAR WARS style A one sheet should seek one that is 27x41. There are rather convincing repros which are 27x40. So popular was the film when it was released that Fox were required to make multiple printings of this one sheet to accommodate the demand. This particular poster is the fourth printing. The differences between the different printings have to do with notations in the bottom border of the poster -- not the art on the poster. All four printings are considered original release. There are also several different styles of posters. Clients interested in other styles or in earlier printings are encouraged to call us at 512 479 6680. This poster is folded, has some minor fold separation at the intersection and shows light evidence of an additional fold. This poster is one of two copies sold at the Gunnar Nelson sale at Butterfield's in Los Angeles in 1996. Art by Tom Jung. Beware of repros. This poster is the real thing.

STAND UP AND CHEER! (1934) 6193 RUSSELL PATTERSON ART
Original Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41). Royal Theater Collection. Art by Russell Patterson. Very fine to near mint condition.
Original Fox Film Corp One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Hamilton MacFadden depression-era musical fantasy, STAND UP AND CHEER! (1934) — starring Warner Baxter, Madge Evans, and Shirley Temple. The cast was amplified by a motley group of Fox players: John Boles, Sylvia Froos, Arthur Byron, Ralph Morgan, Nigel Bruce, "Skins" Miller, Lucien LIttlefield, Nick Foran, Mitchell & Durant, as well as the famous black character actor Stepin Fetchit. The premise of this film is that Americans can beat the depression by learning to smile, to laugh, and eventually, to “stand up and cheer.” Baxter has the main role as the Secretary of Amusement, a post that Will Rogers had already suggested at the beginning of the depression. Shirley Temple, easily the most famous and popular child star of all time, was five-years-old at the time of this film was made and had already appeared in a series of features and shorts. But in this film, by singing, dancing and pure charm, she marched her way straight into America’s heart. Indeed, by 1935 she would begin to star in a string of classic family films. This original one sheet poster is in very fine to near mint condition. The great art on this poster is by the illustrator Russell Patterson.

It tells a simple story of a charming princess saved from the evil deeds of her wicked stepmother by a group of seven adorable dwarfs. It astounded audiences when it was released in December 1937 and since has become an enduring family favorite. It won the Academy Award for Best Musical Score, and the next year Walt Disney was presented an Honorary Oscar to recognize the film “as a significant screen innovation which has charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field.” Disney received one regular statuette and seven miniature statuettes. Original Walt Disney Productions Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Clyde Geronimi animated fairy tale, SLEEPING BEAUTY (1959)—starring the voices of Mary Costa, Bill Shirley, and Eleanor Audley. The beautiful art direction is inspired by European medieval paintings and architecture, and the elaborate background paintings took between seven and ten days to paint. This is the first Disney animated feature released in 70mm. Though much of the soundtrack in based on the Tchaikovsky ballet, George Bruns received an Academy Award nomination for Best Musical Score for his original songs. The poster is not linen backed and is very fine condition with some signs of use. Some pinholes indicate that the poster was once theater-used. Colors are vivid. MovieArt can recommend a conservation studio if linen-backing is desired. The three sheet is printed on two panels.
