OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Cineriz Italian Locandina Poster (11×27) for the Michelangelo Antonioni drama, IL DESERTO ROSSO (1965) starring Monica Vitti, Richard Harris, and Carlo Chionetti. Vitti plays a mother and housewife who is married to a plant manger (Chionetti) in Ravenna. She is also becoming more and more alienated from everything in her world. This was Antonioni’s first film in color, and he uses the color to further enhance the pervasive feeling of isolation. He had the landscapes painted so that everything looked unreal. And this cold and industrial landscape begins to suffocate the audience as much as it suffocates Vitti. Is she suffering from true mental illness or an inability to adapt to this wasteland? This is certainly one of the most memorable films about alienation in the modern age. This original Italian locandina is folded and in fine plus condition.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Alan Parker family drama, SHOOT THE MOON (1982) starring Albert Finney, Diane Keaton, Karen Allen, Peter Weller, and Dana Hill. This excellent drama chronicles the dissolution of a marriage of fifteen years between Keaton and Finney—leaving the husband, wife, and four children devastated. The performances of Keaton and Finney are among the best in their distinguished careers; indeed, they were both nominated for Golden Globe best acting awards. The scenes between Finney and his oldest daughter played by Hill are absolutely heart breaking. This original one sheet poster is folded and in near mint condition.

DOCTOR ZHIVAGO (1964) 21318

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original MGM One sheet, style A, for the David Lean epic, DOCTOR ZHIVAGO (1965), starring Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Rod Steiger, and Tim Courtenay. This film portrays seamlessly the combination of the personal and political lives of the main characters through the period of World War I and the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director for Lean, and Best Supporting Actor for Courtenay. The film won five Oscars—including Best Color Cinematography to Freddie Young and Best Original Music to Maurice Jarre. This original one sheet poster is one of three styles used for the film and shows parallel images of the two love stories. This style A is the more difficult poster to find of the three styles. Fine Plus Condition. Tri folded only. This is a nice tri-folded copy which is a little bit rumpled. Overall fine plus.

SILENT RAGE (1982) 3159

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Michael Miller horror thriller, SILENT RAGE (1982) starring Chuck Norris, Ron Silver, and Steven Keats. Norris plays the sheriff of a small Texas town who shoots and seemingly kills a maniac who is attempting to flee arrest. But doctors secretly operate on the killer and bring him back to life, making him almost indestructible in the process. But Norris brings him down and saves the day. Although a little like “Walker, Texas Ranger” meets “Halloween,” the film is entertaining and quite suspenseful. This original one sheet poster is folded and in near mint condition.

BATMAN (1966) 14974

full.batman-3sh-14974

Original 20th Century Fox Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Leslie H. Martinson tounge-in-cheek crime-comedy, BATMAN (1966), starring Adam West, Burt Ward, Lee Meriwether, Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, and Frank Gorshin. This sixties big screen version of the popular TV series is a wonderful parody of the old movie serials. The Dynamic Duo fight all of their favorite arch villains (The Catwoman, The Joker, The Penguin, and The Riddler) who team up to take over the world. Shot in the same campy style as the TV series, the whole cast seems like they are having a great time. Adam West’s performance has been described as “sublimely surreal.” This original three sheet is in very good condition, but should be linen backed. There are some fold separations that need repair. Colors are bright.

BEST DEFENSE (1984) 3160

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Willard Huyck war comedy, BEST DEFENSE (1984) starring Dudley Moore, Eddie Murphy, and Kate Capshaw. Moore plays a competence-challenged tank designer, and Murphy plays the tank commander who must later take Moore’s tank into combat. Murphy’s character was only added to the film after the original version was completed but then was panned by test audiences. The film is yet another in a long line of films that portrays the American defense system as being run by an army of Chaplin-like buffoons. Neither comic star was impressed with the way the film turned out; indeed, Murphy admitted later on the David Letterman show, “A few years back I made a film called BEST DEFENSE. And it was bad. REAL bad!” This original one sheet poster is folded and in near mint condition.
